18:12

Thanks for reading. I'll be back tomorrow with coverage of the Munster and Connacht football finals. Have a great evening!

18:10

That's all from me on a dramatic day of hurling that saw Cork and Waterford advance to the All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals, where they will be drawn to face either Tipperary or Dublin. Clare and Galway bowed out of the championship.

18:06

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier full time: Clare 1-23 Cork 3-19

Cork are through to the All-Ireland quarter-finals, where they will face either Tipperary or Dublin! The other three teams left in the Liam McCarthy Cup are Limerick, Kilkenny and Waterford.

18:05

Save!

Collins thwarts Kelly as he goes for a dramatic last-gasp match-winning goal! High drama - Cork win a free-out!

18:04

Goal!

Kelly blasts his penalty to the net to make it a two-point game with 30 seconds of injury time remaining - 1-23 to 3-19!

18:03

Red card!

Niall O'Leary is the second Cork man to walk for a black card on top of his earlier yellow, having dragged down Kelly for a Clare penalty!

18:02

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-23 Cork 3-19

We move into three additional minutes at the end of the game. Rory Hayes gets forward to bag a Clare point.

18:01

Clare hit a couple of morale-sapping wides approaching the 70-minute mark.

18:00

Red card!

Just before that Horgan point, Cork were reduced to 14 men as O'Connor picked up his second yellow card followed by a red one!

18:00

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-22 Cork 3-19

Horgan bangs over the free to extend the gap to six! The sides have scored 22 times apiece but three of Cork's scores are goals!

17:57

Goal!

Third light as the Rebels hit the net again. Barrett sends a rocket to the roof of the Clare net after clever play by Harnedy and they lead by five - 3-18 to 0-22!

17:56

Block!

Robert Downey does brilliantly to deny Gary Cooney - and it's a six-point swing because...

17:55

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-22 Cork 2-18

Horgan delivers his second from play to double the difference. Cork have dug deep since being overtaken and now lead by two heading into the last six minutes.

17:54

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-22 Cork 2-17

Credit to Harnedy as he continues to believe in himself, slotting his second point to give his side the lead again on 63 minutes.

17:53

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-22 Cork 2-16

Another young replacement - Barrett - fires over the 16th Cork point as the lead changes hands once more. But Ryan Taylor equalises. Looks like we could be needing extra time...

17:52

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-21 Cork 2-15

That's what Alan Connolly was thrown into the fray for! He takes on his man and mines a nice levelling point!

17:50

Horgan's free drifts wide and the Cork groans are audible.

17:49

Since the second half started, Clare have outscored Cork by ten points to five!

17:48

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-21 Cork 2-14

Substitute Shane Golden with the sweetest of connections and the Banner have tied up the scores. Diarmuid Ryan gets forward from wing back to give them the lead!

17:47

Wide from Harnedy - his fourth. Cork really could have done with a score as the pressure is mounting on them.

17:46

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-19 Cork 2-14

Reidy wins the free and Kelly (0-12) bangs over a 50-metre free. The momentum is with the Banner!

17:44

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-18 Cork 2-14

Two between them at the second water break. The Rebels have led since O'Connor netted in the 17th minute but the Banner County keep chipping away and this could go either way. Kelly slotted the last point from a difficult free.

17:40

Momentarily, a pair of peak-capped umpires appear to be in another world as they stand motionless as Harnedy has a pop at the posts.

17:38

Save!

O'Connor's shot is deflected into the side-netting. Horgan addresses the '65' and pings it over the bar to stretch the gap back to three...

17:36

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-17 Cork 2-13

With his ninth score of the day, the alchemist Kelly makes it a one-point game ten minutes into the second half! But back come Cork with a Horgan free...

17:34

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-16 Cork 2-12

Kelly (free) closes it to a two-point game again. It's tit for tat and Brian Lohan's men could do with a run of two or three unanswered scores...

17:31

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-15 Cork 2-12

Cork players and management unhappy as the Clare point from Kelly is allowed to stand. Meade hits back - it was a slight goal chance but the angle was against him and he took his point.

17:29

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-14 Cork 2-11

Robbie O'Flynn and Kelly knock points over at either end of the Gaelic Grounds.

17:26

Cork goalkeeper Patrick Collins called into action early on and McCarthy slots two Clare points either side of a Fitzgibbon reply.

17:24

The action resumes. Shane Barrett has replaced Alan Cadogan for the second half.

17:08

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier half time: Clare 0-11 Cork 2-9

Eleven scores each in the first half but those goals from O'Connor and Kingston have propelled the Rebel County into a four-point interval advantage!

17:07

Goal!

Ruthless from Cork! Horgan picks out Kingston with a clever handpass and the latter hammers to the net on the stroke of half time - 2-9 to 0-10! Colm Galvin replies.

17:06

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-10 Cork 1-9

That's three now from Cathal Malone - and that one was a thing of real beauty. A sweet finish from distance from the all-action man.

17:03

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-9 Cork 1-9

Speed merchant Shane Kingston cuts inside Conlon and swings over a point to leave the goal between them.

17:03

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-9 Cork 1-8

Darragh Fitzgibbon takes the pass from Luke Meade and cancels out Kelly's free. The Rebels earn a free in the centre of the pitch and Horgan comes out to take it, sending the sliothar left and wide this time.

16:59

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-8 Cork 1-7

Horgan steers a '65' straight over the bar. That's his sixth of the game already.

16:58

Yellow card for Jack O'Connor for a robust challenge on John Conlon, who received a heavy knock.

16:57

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-8 Cork 1-6

Horgan restores the Leesiders' advantage with ten minutes left before the break.

16:55

Level!

Former Hurler of the Year Kelly grabs his first from play in the 23rd minute - an inspirational score from distance.

16:52

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-7 Cork 1-5

Malone, with his second, closes it back to a one-point game.

16:48

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-6 Cork 1-5

Great score from Cathal Malone and the Rebles lead by two at the first water break, which arrives after 19 minutes.

16:47

Save!

Eibhear Quilligan denies O'Connor a second goal but Seamus Harnedy punctuates the next Rebel attack with a classy point.

16:46

Goal!

In the 17th minute, Cork hit the front! Jack O'Connor rounds Rory Hayes and blasts high to the net from an acute angle - 1-4 to 0-5!

16:45

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-5 Cork 0-4

McInerney couldn't find an unmarked team-mate so he thumped one over the bar from distance!

16:43

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-4 Cork 0-4

Horgan has contributed all the Rebels' scores so far - that one was from a '65. The rest of the Cork attack have yet to get into the game.

16:40

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-4 Cork 0-3

I had that one chalked down long before Kelly connected with the free - he doesn't miss from there!

16:38

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-3 Cork 0-3

Horgan's third (free) has them level once more. Already, it looks like this one could go right down to the wire!

16:36

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-3 Cork 0-2

McCarthy's shot is wide again but an advantage was being played and Kelly sticks over the free.

16:35

Wide!

The umpires consult and decide that Aidan McCarthy's effort was wide...

16:33

Save!

Horgan goes but goal but it's an excellent block by Conor Cleary!

16:32

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Clare 0-2 Cork 0-2

Some start! A super strike from Patrick Horgan to open the scoring in the first minute. Instantly, the Banner reply through Ian Galvin but Horgan quickly tacks on his second, despite being down on his knees! Tony Kelly equalises from a free on four minutes.

16:28

It's sweltering hot in Limerick and the temperature will go up a few notches when Clare V Cork throws in. This is the Banner's fourth outing of the year and they have the momentum; the Rebels only played once so far this summer - a narrow defeat to Limerick.

16:26

Christy Ring Cup semi-final full time: Derry 0-28 Sligo 2-17

A good win for the Oak Leaf men at Owenbeg to advance to the final.

15:48

That was a dramatic finish to the first of today's games. Waterford were outstanding, while Galway really only showed up for the last 20 minutes. Coming up at 4:30, it's Clare V Cork.

15:44

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier full time: Waterford 1-30 Galway 3-20

It's all over and Waterford are through to the All-Ireland quarter-finals, having played the entire second half with 14 men after Conor Gleeson's red card. Galway were 16 points down at the second water break and mounted a stunning late fightback but Na Deise held on for a deserved victory!

15:43

Save!

With 77 minutes on the clock, Canning goes for goal from a free in but is denied by Conor Prunty!

15:41

We are in the sixth of seven minutes of injury time and Waterford hold a four-point advantage...

15:40

Goal!

Incredibly, Flynn strikes for his second goal in the fifth minute of injury time and Galway are back within three. But Bennett replies with a massive Waterford point!

A winning burst from Na Deise in added time as Bennett pops over another late, late free...

Wow! High drama in Thurles! In added time, Jason Flynn halves Galway's deficit by firing emphatically to the net - one goal between the teams! 2-20 to 1-26!

15:33

Left and wide from Mannion from a very difficult angle.

15:33

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-26 Galway 1-20

Canning tips his free over the bar with four minutes left. Galway have closed a 16-point deficit to six in 13 minutes. Dramatic finale coming...

15:30

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-26 Galway 1-19

Canning's latest point - from play, going for goal but it flies over the bar - sees him overtake Henry Shefflin as the all-time leading scorer in championship history. But he'll be more concerned about the predicament his team are in here. Brian Concannon pulls back another one!

15:28

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-26 Galway 1-17

Niland slots his second and it's a nine-point game with as many minutes left. Barron is pulled back for a free at the other end and Bennett pulls it right and wide.

15:26

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-26 Galway 1-16

After Michael Kiely's effort is deflected wide, Stephen Bennett directs a '65' straight over the bar to edge the gap back out to eleven. Galway reply through substitute Jason Flynn.

15:23

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-25 Galway 1-15

That's a big six-point burst from Galway since the restart, Canning stroking over another free to reduce their arrears to ten.

15:21

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-25 Galway 1-14

Whelan then picks out substitute Evan Niland, who opts to take his point...

15:21

Goal!

There's the first one in the hat! Inspirational from Cathal Mannion who turns his man and fires to the net on 55 minutes - 1-13 to 1-25!

15:20

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-25 Galway 0-13

Joe Canning taps over a free but Galway need a hatful of goals.

15:18

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-25 Galway 0-12

Another Bennett free sails over to nudge the Waterford lead out to 16 at the second water break. Galway have offered very little. With 14 men in the third quarter, Na Deise have managed to increase their lead by four!

15:15

Injured!

Play is held up due to an injury to Morrissey, who is stretched from the pitch and replaced by Jack Fitzpatrick.

15:11

Save!

Canning had a tap-over free but Galway go short and Shaun O'Brien brilliantly denies them a goal. Substitute Johnny Coen with a Galway point, their twelfth. Na Deise reply through Jack Fagan!

15:10

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-23 Galway 0-11

From the middle of the field, that man Barron eases over his fourth point. You'd think it was Waterford who had the extra man!

15:07

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-22 Galway 0-11

Darren Morrissey pulls down Hutchinson and Waterford wanted a penalty. But a free-in is awarded and Bennett taps it over. Barron follows up with his third to leave 5 between them. But Tuohy responds..

15:05

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-20 Galway 0-10

The outstanding Hogan is on target but Galway reply through Joseph Cooney - the latter a peach from near the sideline!

15:01

It was already hot in Thurles but by God the temperature is rising since the teams re-emerged!

15:01

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-19 Galway 0-9

Gleeson contemptuously smashes over the opening score of the second half and the gap is 13! Bennett pulls a free right and wide, though.

15:00

Tempers are frayed and Galway's Shane Cooney is booked!

14:58

Red card!

Conor Gleeson is shown a straight red card before the action restarts. Presumably referee Sean Stack sent him off for striking Canning before the break. Will that red card change the dynamic of the game!

14:57

A huge roar greets Na Deise's reappearance for the second half.

14:55

Canning looked to be in serious trouble but he has re-emerged for the second half. This is Waterford's game to lose and it seems highly unlikely they are going to do so.

14:46

Joe Canning looked in trouble as he left the field at half time. As if things couldn't get any worse for the Tribesmen...

14:41

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier half time: Waterford 1-18 Galway 0-9

In injury time at the end of a one-sided first half, Gleeson shortens his grip and the Mount Sion man splits the posts! Twelve points between the teams at the break. Waterford have been absolutely immense so far. Galway have failed to show up - just four points from play and difficult to see them getting back into the game.

14:35

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 1-17 Galway 0-9

Gleeson arrows over a frankly amazing sideline cut from huge distance - remarkable from Waterford!

14:33

Goal!

It's been coming. Dessie Hutchinson to Curran to Jack Fagan and the net ripples in the scorching heat of Semple Stadium - 1-16 to 0-9 and it's a ten-point game after 31 minutes!

14:32

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-16 Galway 0-9

After a bone-crunching passage of play, Lyons thumps over an spectacular Waterford point from out the field. Galway have brought Adrian Tuohy on for the injured Sean Linnane. Peter Hogan has been immense so far.

14:29

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-15 Galway 0-9

No free as Curran goes down under pressure from Aidan Harte - Whelan slots his third at the other end!

14:28

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-15 Galway 0-8

For the fifth time today, Canning converts a Galway free. His scores from placed balls are just about keeping Shane O'Neill's men in contention. But they are all over the place and losing every single match-up. Curran replies with a stunning score.

14:26

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-14 Galway 0-7

Barron to Hogan to Kieran Bennett and straight over the bar to make it double scores after 24 minutes! Brilliant hurling from Waterford!

14:25

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-13 Galway 0-7

Hogan breaks up a Galway attack and finds Curran, who picks out Barron, who nails a terrific point. Na Deise full value for this six-point lead!

14:24

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-12 Galway 0-7

Stephen Bennett fires over his third successive point - this one from close to the sideline - and Kieran Bennett instantly leaves five between the teams after 22 minutes!

14:22

Waterford have dominated this match so far and will be disappointed to be only three points ahead. Galway have not got going and can't get any decent possession into their forwards.

14:21

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-10 Galway 0-7

Cathal Mannion is penalised for over-carrying and Bennett thumps over a magnificent free from inside his own '65' close to the sideline!

14:17

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-9 Galway 0-7

Stephen Bennett lofts over his second free and Na Deise have a two-point advantage at the first water break!

14:15

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-8 Galway 0-7

Stephen Bennett sweeps over a free and Darach Fahy makes a good save to deny Austin Gleeson a Waterford goal. Gleeson didn't catch that one as nicely as he hoped.

14:12

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-7 Galway 0-7

A very soft Galway free is tapped over by Canning - his fourth converted free already - and the sides are level again. Looked like a fair shoulder by Barrnon on Shane Cooney but the referee thought otherwise...

14:10

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-7 Galway 0-6

Peter Hogan had a sniff of goal but was crowded out - Galway earn a free at the other end and Canning's third ties the scores up. But Prendergast whips one over from close to the sideline to restore his team's lead on ten minutes.

14:08

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-6 Galway 0-5

Canning's second converted free leaves the Tribe very much on Waterford's tails. They'll be happy because Na Deise have made a wonderful start.

14:06

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-6 Galway 0-4

Conor Cooney reduces the gap to the minimum after Joe Canning clipped over a free. This is exhausting stuff! Calum Lyons bangs over the sixth Waterford score in the seventh minute.

14:04

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-5 Galway 0-2

Whelan slots his second score of the day to steady the men from the west. Back come Waterford with a superb Prendergast point from a tight angle!

14:03

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-4 Galway 0-1

Jamie Barron with another brilliant Waterford point! This has been a magical start from Liam Cahill's men!

14:02

All-Ireland SHC Qualifier: Waterford 0-3 Galway 0-1

Jack Prendergast picks out Shane Bennett and he opens the scoring in style! Jack Fagan adds another one and Conor Whelan gets Galway up and running. Patrick Curran quickly follows up with a third Na Deise score - breathless stuff here!

13:58

The national anthem rings out so we are just moments away from throw-in...

13:55

The teams are going through the last stages of their warm-ups as we speak. Think the warm-up would be more than enough for me - not just for the day but for the season.

13:53

It's another roasting hot day so two energy-sapping, high-intensity encounters are in prospect.

13:52

Waterford and Galway will both be aiming to improve on their most-recent outings, against Laois and Dublin respectively.

13:48

The scenic route...

The teams in action today still have quite a long way to go to claim the ultimate honours - they are each four wins away from clinching the All-Ireland. Having said that, Cork and Galway have only played once this summer so far, while Waterford have been in action twice and the Banner County have three games under their belts.

13:41

A crowd of 4,400 will be able to take in the action at Thurles this afternoon.

13:39

This is a repeat of the 2017 All-Ireland final, of course, where the Tribesmen secured their only championship victory over Na Deise to date.

13:37

Waterford (All-Ireland SHC v Galway): Shaun O'Brien; Conor Gleeson, Conor Prunty, Ian Kenny; Calum Lyons, Shane Bennett, Kieran Bennett; Jamie Barron, Peter Hogan; Jack Fagan, Jack Prendergast, Stephen Bennett; Dessie Hutchinson, Austin Gleeson, Patrick Curran.

13:37

Galway (All-Ireland SHC v Waterford): Darach Fahy; Shane Cooney, Gearoid McInerney, Darren Morrissey; Padraic Mannion, Daithi Burke, Aidan Harte; Sean Loftus, Cathal Mannion; Joseph Cooney, Conor Whelan, Conor Cooney; Sean Linnane, Joe Canning, Brian Concannon.

12:10

It's knockout hurling for the remainder of the summer, with just seven matches left to be played in the 2021 All-Ireland SHC - so the stakes could hardly be higher!

12:08

SHC Qualifiers Round 2

And we have two cracking contests in store, with Galway and Waterford locking horns at Thurles at 2pm followed by the meeting of Munster rivals Cork and Clare in Limerick at 4:30.

12:07

Provincial champions Limerick and Kilkenny are safely through to the All-Ireland semi-finals, while losing provincial finalists Tipperary and Dublin have sealed quarter-final berths, where they will face the winners of today's second-round Qualifiers.

12:05

Eight become six

The field for the 2021 Liam MacCarthy will be reduced to six today as the line-up for the All-Ireland series is completed.
