Starting with Padraic Mannion, Galway work the ball upfield to Concannon who finishes off a terrific team point. Whelan quickly adds to his tally.

Hutchinson and substitute Patrick Curran pull back a couple of Waterford points. Eight minutes of normal time remaining.
Great vision from Canning to spot and pick out Concannon, whose finish is as emphatic as it was confident - 4-25 to 3-18!

Niland replies to a Prendergast point. Hutchinson pulls it back to a five-point game again but Whelan's retort is instant! Then Conor Cooney nails a terrific point from long range!
Canning turns Conor Prunty and effortlessly points from close to the right-hand sideline. Then Cathal Mannion whacks a high point up and over to leave six between the sides at the second water break - 3-22 to 3-16!

Canning pitches a trademark sideline cut over the bar as the standard refuses to drop. Bennett strikes that one off with a converted free.

Another exchange between Bennett (free) and Whelan as the Tribesmen maintain their four-point lead.

Stephen Bennett's unerring free looked to be equidistant from the two uprights as it sailed between them. Back come Galway again through Whelan.

Cooney weaves his way past a couple of tackles to stretch the gap and Loftus quickly tacks on another one.

Jamie Barron calmly sweeps the sliothar over the bar and we are back to a one-point game but Niland retorts immediately with another fine effort.
Absolutely stunning from Hutchinson. He makes a wonderful catch and has an outside chance of getting a goal. But he decides to go for it and whacks the sliothar to the net off the inside of right post - 3-14 to 3-12!

Canning whips over a close-range free in the 35th minute of a brilliant first half.
Canning ghosted in to full forward and once Cancannon picked him out there was only going to be one outcome! Substitute Evan Niland adds a point and Galway are back within two - 2-12 to 2-10.

Whelan was nearly in for a second Galway goal. Possession is maintained and the ball is recycled to Canning, who takes his point. But Shane Bennett replies.
What a finish! Shane Bennett picks it out under pressure and finds the right corner of the net. Hutchinson adds a point - 2-11 to 1-8!

Terrific points at either end as Lyons' third is cancelled out by Sean Loftus.
Hard to tell what exactly happened there but it was Adrian Tuohy who finished to the Waterford net. Brian Concannon's cross seemed to have first been deflected onto the post by Austin Gleeson. Canning adds a free and the gap is down to two - 1-9 to 1-7!

Stephen Bennett (free) and Lyons increase the Waterford lead to seven. Galway looked to be in for a goal chance but play is called back for a free, which Canning taps over, having shaken off a knock.
