Offaly hurling boss Johnny Kelly reckons both teams will likely “go for it” when his side meet Kildare in Division 2A’s top of the table clash in Tullamore next weekend.

Following their respective wins over Kerry and Carlow earlier today, Kildare and Offaly lead the way in the division with the Lilywhites ahead on score difference.

Both teams are now guaranteed a semi-final berth, with the winners at O’Connor Park on Sunday week assured a final place, and, speaking to RTE Sport after his team’s win against Carlow, Kelly is expecting both sides to go all out for the points.

"I think both teams will probably go for it, because whoever wins gets a week break," he stated.

"Whoever loses ends up, you’re starting seven games in seven weeks which is a very heavy workload for any squad.

"I don’t know what Kildare’s feelings are on it, I suppose they’ll come and they’ll want to lay down a marker here and give their best. I think we will do no different."

He added: "We’re into, I think, a semi-final as of now. It comes down to next week, it’s one game at a time. That's all we can do, we can just win the game."
