Kildare and Offaly maintained their 100% record in Division 2A of the Allianz Hurling League thanks to respective wins over Kerry and Carlow this afternoon.
The Lilywhites made their goals count in a 2-20 to 0-21 victory against Carlow in Newbridge, where they’d built up a commanding 0-14 to 0-6 come half-time.
The visitors hit the first two points of the restart but they were wiped out once Brian Byrne fired to the Kingdom’s net on 38 minutes.
The Munster men came with a push that saw the points of Shane Conway, Michael Leane and Jordan Conway help reduce their deficit to five (1-19 to 0-17), before Gerry Keegan rifled in a second goal for David Herity’s men with 10 minutes to go.
In Tullamore, Offaly were 1-19 to 1-12 winners over Carlow to ensure their fourth victory of the campaign.
Eoghan Cahill starred in the first-half for the Faithful men as they carried in a 0-11 to 0-6 lead and David Nally’s goal late on would seal the points.
Jack McCullagh did net a fortuitous goal for Carlow deep in injury-time but it proved mere consolation as Barrowsiders were inflicted with their third loss of the campaign.
It means that the winners of next weekend’s top of the table clash between Offaly and Kildare in Tullamore will advance straight through to the Division 2A final.
