Shane Walsh says he would have returned from Australia to play in the All-Ireland club SFC final replay if it had been ordered.

The sharpshooter watched from afar as the controversy over Kilmacud Crokes having 16 players on the pitch in the closing stages raged before Glen eventually withdrew their objection.

Walsh has since returned home and speaking to RTÉ after making his first appearance of the season for Galway as a substitute against Monaghan yesterday, he insisted that the Crokes celebrations weren't dimmed by the furore.

"I probably got the best of feelings in a way. A couple of days later - after celebrating with the lads - I was heading away to Sydney with my girlfriend," he explained.

"It was completely different. I probably got the best of it. I enjoyed every minute of it, really. I know there was a lot of noise here at home.

"Robbie (Brennan) and the boys had been chatting to me. I said, 'whatever will be will be was said, I'll be back if I'm needed to.'

"It was great that there was a line drawn in the sand in relation to it and it's great to have that medal now forever.

"We enjoyed every minute of it, to be honest with you. You can ask any of the lads there. Lads enjoyed and what will be will be (was the attitude). That was the way we handled it. And in fairness, I thought it was handled very well."
