A 58th minute goal from captain Dara Curran saw Roscommon edge Mayo by 2-14 to 1-15 in Castlebar yesterday evening to clinch their first Connacht minor football championship title in five years.
John Price’s goal helped the Rossies lead by 1-7 to 1-4 at half-time after Tony Carey had bagged an early opening goal for the home side.
Carey helped close the gap for Carey early in the restart and they’d hit the front again thanks to a Conor Hession free before pushing their advantage out to four midway through the second-half.
Price, Seamie McCarthy and Dean Casey (2) struck scores to bring Roscommon level ahead of Curran firing in this goal (watch it below) which would prove the difference between the sides in the end:
