No one answered my question above yet about Doyle getting on millennium team before dj and rightly so Doyle was a genius thurlesblues (Tipperary) - Posts: 4475 - 28/01/2014 19:39:32 1538026 Link 0 |

Much as I love hurling Ive never denied Im a late comer , love the game but my knowledge is limited saw Nicky English JBM and Dj but my knowledge back then poor , Ive always thought its easier to be a great player in a great side, loved watching Henry but have to say as my head was turned from the big ball to the small there was one guy I just couldnt get enough of John Mulane , no All irelands , but as I never saw Ring Mackie or Rackard an only going on what Ive seen , a thumbs up to Mulane . Because I'm laughing at your post about his free taking I'd prefer to have Eoin taking the frees anyday thurlesblues (Tipperary) - Posts: 4475 - 28/01/2014 21:08:21 1538078 Link 0 |

What did i say? He was better than DJ. Never said anything about Kelly, Thurles. RebelCork (Cork) - Posts: 789 - 28/01/2014 21:16:49 1538083 Link 0 |
I'm talking about greatest players rebel cork and you mention Henry's frees I'm just saying Eoin Kelly is a better free taker and I'm also saying John Doyle is greatest of all time as no other hurler in history has equalled his national titles between all Ireland's and leagues and remember Doyle never had the opportunity to win one through the back door like Henry did. thurlesblues (Tipperary) - Posts: 4475 - 28/01/2014 21:25:55 1538086 Link 0 |
No one not even the great man himself considered John Doyle to be as good as ring. From memory ( not always 100% granted) I think he said the difference between his 8 medals n rings 8 were he was lucky enough to be on teams who won 8 all Ireland's whereas ring went out n made his team win 8 all Ireland's. no doubt an element of modesty there but an element of truth also. disillusiondfan (Limerick) - Posts: 4279 - 29/01/2014 08:58:41 1538110 Link 0 |

thurlesblues are you determined to ruin every decent hurling thread this year again by turning them into a tipp v whoever/whatever?because all you are doing is ruining every decent hurling argument on this board. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 29/01/2014 11:16:28 1538179 Link 0 |
Basing how good a player is on the number of medals he won is just nonsensical. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2679 - 29/01/2014 11:17:01 1538181 Link 0 |
