Replying To ElGranSenor:  "I think 10 Dublin players starters last night started against us in Championship last year (Was 4 for us)

As for last night, best case scenario in terms of starters going forward would be Fanning, Niall Murphy, Conor Foley, Darragh Carley, Richie Lawlor, CBD, Jack Redmond, Kevin Foley, and maybe Tucker Kinsella, probably a year too soon for Eoin Whelan, Seán Rowley, and Éamon Wickham

Is Cian Molloy out for long?"
Darragh Carley looks to have bulked up did well corner back I thought

Anyone know what the story with Jippo is?

Thought Eamon Wickham played well. Dublin just moved the ball a lot quicker, more accurate and fluid. Rossiter kept having to tell our lads to keep moving the ball into space. Fanning saved a few shots on goal. Great to see Chin there

Like I said on Wednesday, read nothing in to a challenge match in the rain in January. Just like read nothing in to the league. One thing matters, championship.
Didn't see the whole game as was working at the time, but what I did see in the first half was Dublin being direct with the wind and using it, while Wexford were shooting from distance in to a gale. I never understand teams don't have one player in putting pressure on the keeper in to the wind. Balls dropping short with 40+ yards of space is a full back dream. The one time your full forward line pressured them you got a goal out of it.
Thought we used the ball better throughout to be fair, and Wexford so lack ball winning half forwards outside of Chin. Teams just get the ball to the ground and use it, this has been Wexford weakness and means constant pressure on your back lines.
I heard Dublin have been gunning to get back, the defeat to Cork stung so badly and I don't think we are as bad as that, but I don't believe we're any closer than 10 points to the top in Munster. And being blunt, everybody in Leinster is way off the Munster pace.
But everybody knows it'll be different tempo in Wexford in April/May. You owe us one, or more than one in some people eyes :)
Best of luck for the year ahead.

Yeah, thought much the same as you, would help us playing out from the back if he were to become a viable option there

This year will only be a short year again!!! We won't qualify out of leinster for the simple fact that all these new lads are goin to be tried in the league which is fine and has to be done!! Some of them are goin to be on the team which is fine also because we need them to be,but in reality they are so far behind in s&c they wont cope in the white heat of leinster championship as all the other teams are ahead of us anyway both in hurling terms and s&c,also the senior players we have are probably past it now and results showed that last year!!! The standard of club hurling here is terrible so the lads coming in to wexford panel in the scheme of all the other teams in leinster bar kildare maybe are miles off it really!!! The Martins are so far ahead with a few good crops of players with a good age profile to be dominant here in wexford for a long time if they want to be,I think most of them have all underage premier medals and I think they had a dominant u21/20 team that won 6 out of 8 titles so there's a conveyor belt of talent thats just better than everyone else across the board!!! I do agree we need to tackle the schools and be really ambitious in wexford and get the right people who have the CV to change things here!!! If not we will sink no doubt,we cant keep hoping we get a team to take us along for a few years and forget about everything else!!! I do think rossi is a great fella, was a good hurler for wexford!! Played on a great oulart team!!! I feel hes not really at the pitch of it as a top intercounty manager!!! Was he really brilliant with the 21s im not so sure!!! I know hes learning yes and needs time i think he should have stayed with 21s for another bit and proved he could deliver a leinster championship and then made the jump or took a senior team,he only was with bunclody as far as I know!!! I think wexford has to be ambitious and should have got another high profile manager, the proof is in the pudding!!!

Its about performance. If they play well enough, or better than their competitors for a place, then they will have earned their place. How old they are, or long they are on the panel, is irrelevant.

In recent years Barntown and Oulart have been a long way ahead of Martins at underage. Shels were probably the dominant team before that.
The u21 Premier final was Rathnure v Oulart last year, 2025. Rathnure won. They beat Shels in their Semifinal. Martins weren't even in a Premier QF. Their minors lost the div 1 shield final to Monageer by 8 points, weren't even in premier. They got knocked out of the div1 championship by Askamore in the QF. Their u16s lost their div2 shield SF to Cloughbawn by 23 points. Their u14s lost their div2 QF to St Annes. Their u12s were in div2 also, and didnt win it.
Buffers Alley beat Shels in the Premier u21 final in 2024. Martins weren't even in Premier u21 that year either, they lost in div 1 at the quarterfinal stage.
Not sure why you think they are dominating underage?
I agree 100% with what you say about the schools, just not enough coaching contacts for a start.
This is Rossiters prove it year I feel also, he's left no stone unturned, but its regrettable that afaik we still don't have a lead coach.
As regards Leinster I don't think there are any outstanding sides in it. A Dublin team loaded with championship starters struggled to put away a Wexford selection for 3/4s of the game, of which half of the lads who played for us likely won't even make our League team, or even the panel in some cases. Kilkenny have lost their best back for this season, and 1 of their best forwards from last year. Hard to know how Galway will go, they are in transition too.

Was at the game last night in oulart.. though we did at times but same old failings are there.. getting turned over in possession no ball winners in half forward line.. made no sense playing fanning last 2 games surely a run out for cian Bryne from Rosslare or Derry Mahon should of got a run out… think a lot of lads done well in defence… does anyone know what Martin's lads are in the panel..I know 2 codds and Jack o Connor who is out for a month or 6 weeks due to having a operation according to Rossiter on south east radio after Laois game…Joe Barrett is 100 percent not in panel..

Agree with you Fanning played well in both games but would have been nice to see Derry Mahon and Cian Byrne get a chance to show what they can do. It's an awful pity we can't get lads like Joe Barrett and Aj Redmond to commit to playing senior having played the whole way up through underage for Wexford . Not sure on the Martins lads aswell as the 2 Codds and Jacko I would say Diarmuid O Leary at wing back deserves a chance on the panel maybe ?

Even we're ahead of Martin's in most age groups.

Wexford havnt beaten Dublin in the Leinster championship since 2018, I don't know how you can link a Mickey house pre season match in Oulart to how Dublin will be in the Leinster championship, Dublin & Kilkenny are ahead of Wexford at present in championship hurling, make no bones about that and the stats back that up.

Galway are an unknown quantity, a bit like Wexford in regards to consistency.

Can Wexford win the Leinster championship?, of course, but we can't base anything on losing to a 'loaded' Dublin team on the 8th of January in Oulart,

Not in the last few years are they up in the grades but they won 21/20 premier 14,15,16 ,18,19 I think and minor premier 14,15,16,17 I think so thats alot of top hurlers that have come with a bang for the Martins, last couple of years they have been very poor underage but still have got a couple a good young lads from those groups!!! Only oulart have had the same sort of generational teams and they dominated club!! Think they could have had 8-9 on wexford team back then but that made no difference either!!! Martins will dominant as I said if they want but probably not to the extent oulart did think they were a better team!! Anyway still think it will be a short year

Yes those teams are now the backbone of there senior team. They will pick up a couple from their weaker teams to supplement what they have. Hopefully a few of them commit to Rossi, but for some of the older lads maybe they are thinking they have a better chance of winning Leinster with the Martins than Wexford

Yes all the Martin's backs did well this year.. I can see our backs been ok this year.. like if we can get Liam Ryan fit and he is commiting it would be a extra bonus if not I would prefer to see Simon there as he has more of a physical presence than foley.. just a quick one on Eoin whelan looks a good big pysical lad but lacks fitness after been out for a year.. also lacks pace for me watching him the other night.. also gives away a lot of stupid frees but them things can be coached out of him…like backs ya wil still have the 2 recks patsy Donohoe Liam Ryan Eoin whelan darragh Carley and which ever martins are in panel also like the look of Eamonn wickham… if we can keep Richie Lawlor fit think we can be a good option to partner hearne in midfield or young rowley… I'm going to through a team out now providing we have everyone fit
Fanning S Reck. Liam Ryan..Conor foley… patsy molloy… donohoe… d Reck…. Hearne and Sean rowley… Richie Lawlor maybe one of the codds … Jack o Connor.. Kevin foley… chin and Simon Roche..

Stats for Leinster are a bit strange. In the last decade Dublin have made more finals and won none. We've made two finals and won one. We've also advanced from Leinster more often than they have, yet we can't seem to beat them. In that time we've beaten Kilkenny in the championship a number of times and they haven't. They've beaten Galway a few times, we've done it once with maybe two draws in there. There's never more than 4 points between us, with a couple of draws in there too.

I'd argue Dublin are the most settled team in Leinster at the moment. We'll see what that means.

Kilkenny are Kilkenny. They're going to get results and are always the smart money for Leinster.

As you say ourselves and Galway are an unknown quantity.

It's only the Walsh cup so I won't get into it too much, but Hayes and Burke were the difference the other night. If we had chinner and Damien reck that would have changed the whole thing.

I'm not holding my breath for a big championship this year. The whole objective for this season is to bring our fringe players on a bit. Let's just see where that takes us
