Poor Donegal being made to travel to the Hyde

Replying To Alwaysencourage:  "Hold on where exactly did he want the match to be?All teams had to travel to games at we3kend and if he had made a general point about it affecting all supporters then he would have huge support all over the county. Its not just Donegal affected."
Jim wants to create a siege mentality. Psychology my friends. He's creating an us and them to help galvanise the thing.

Replying To Saynothing:  "You can add RTÉ to that list, I get more news on BBC Ulster about Donegal than from RTÉ. The mighty Dubs have a home tie and they are playing it in Croke Park yet supporters will say it's not their home ground."
It is not their home ground. Just because the ground is in their home county, it does not make it their home ground. There is a difference. Parnell Park is Dublin's home ground. Limerick hurlers, or Kilkenny hurlers in particular often play more matches at CP than Dublin hurlers in a given year. Kerry footballers back in the day, often had more annual outings to CP than da Dubs.

You won't hear Limerick people complain if they lose to the Dubs in the hurling quarter on Saturday that the Dubs had advantage because they were at home. They'll lose if they are not good enough. That's it.

CP is Ireland's national stadium. It has to be in one of the 32 counties, so it'll never be 100% neutral to the other 31 counties. In the capital city where the most people live is the best place to have the national stadium. And it's a stadium par excellence.

Otherwise, just to satisfy mouthers like Sayeverything, why not build it in Liverpool, and have it totally 100% neutral? Then you'd hear the Cavan and Kerry brigade moan about the extra cost and distance of travel.

Let Northern Ireland step up and provide a stadium that's even a miniature version of CP I. Put your shoulder to the wheel instead of your constant mouthing and make Casement Park happen. But then, you'll have something more to whinge about as Antrim will then have the new place as home advantage, as CP III will be deemed to be their homeground, irrespective of the fact that CP II (Corrigan Park) is their home ground.

Name the 'countless' he has done it then if its fact?

I'll even help and get you started.

In 2011, when he had a pop off RTE and Pat Spillane for sneering during the discussion of man of the match in the opening Ulster championship game against Armagh. And rightly so, it was downright disrespectful.

Come on now and provide all the others.

Nothing wrong with that if his players respond to it. It's all about results when you are an intercounty manager.

Brian Carroll CCCC chairman has responded.

When  we sit down to put these fixtures together, there are a lot of situations that have to be taken into consideration,"

"In the case of Donegal and Mayo, the obvious venue for us was Sligo. Unfortunately, Sligo wasn't available because the pitch is being repaired, so the ground wasn't available.

" Kingspan Breffni wasn't available - Cavan were playing at the same time. Clones wasn't available because Monaghan were playing two hours earlier in the day and Omagh wasn't available because Tyrone were playing at the same time.

"So our feeling was that the most logical venue for both of these counties was King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park."

What a load of nonsense, Croke Park could be a neutral ground to 32 counties but it's not. Dublin home match this week is in Croke Park, so is it their home ground or not.

A lot of people in Donegal looking for more infrastructure, connectivity etc, your post sounds like you want to build a wall. Don't be so sensitive, lots of non Donegal people shouting for your county yesterday."

Replying To sligo joe:  "I know it's a sports forum, however I do think sport is important. I just thought your comment that nobody in Donegal gives a **** what non Donegal posters think is very isolationist. Also that you claim to know what everyone in Donegal gives a **** about is maybe a bit arrogant. I have lots of Donegal friends, I'm in Donegal regularly, live near enough to Donegal, some of my friends up in Inishowen would have a very passing interest in gaelic football and wouldn't give much of a **** if Donegal won or lost. So there's lots of sporting opinions inside and outside Donegal."
As I said, people in Donegal don't care what outsiders think, Jim has our full support. The fact that Jim's comments seem to be annoying people in other counties is just a bonus. Its actually quite funny that someone felt they needed to start a thread on here about what he said in an interview.

Replying To sponger:  "I wish to pass on my sympathies for the injustices that were bestowed upon your small and impoverished county over the weekend.

Would you like me to set up a Go Fund Me for you, so the next time your team can travel by private jet, with prawn sandwiches on arrival ?

All the best,

Sponger."
Grma sponger, no need for any of that your well wishes are appreciated but just for your info I prefer the prawns Spanish style myself

Plenty of Donegal people had no problem spending money to buy nice houses in Dublin. Imagine have to look elsewhere and you from there.

I think Patten would have gladly wasted a few seconds and then booted the ball out over the sideline but for that fact Donegal were hard done by with this fixture, so me thinks they went for the win in spite of the fixture. Like Tyrone, Donegal are on their own. Well done.
