Replying To lefty:  "Its gonna be a big ask to try beat Laois, Loais with 2 weeks rest while we had 70 plus mins of heavy going in the wide open spaces of croker, lads looked completely out on their feet at the end of it,
very hard see malone been back he looked in a lot of discomfort saturday,
Sean Nolan wasnt even togged saturday so i cant see him been ready for action this weekend, hopefully back for TC,
Eoin Nolan has had a really good campaign at no 6, he could play anywhere else for sure but I think no6 has suited him really well,
TC is the aim now to have a right crack at that but the no1 goal this year was getting out of div 4 and they done that in style"
Whatever happens from here on in the lads have done themselves proud. Anything more would be a bonus now. At the end of the day there could be a long summers Football ahead of them if they can get back on the bike. It's really up to themselves.

No, the aim is to make progress in the leinster championship. Let's not write our team off before a ball has been kicked. If we get beaten on Saturday then we can concentrate on the TC.
Some posters on here are very quick to assume we will lose against the midlanders. I'm pretty sure that the players are not contemplating defeat in Wexford Park. Laois are a mid table division 3 side.
We will be playing division 3 next year.
They will be favourites but favourites don't always win.
If the players go into this game with a positive attitude, believe in themselves and take their chances we have nothing to fear.

Just from what I saw of the league, Wexford were the best team in the Div. Wexford were clearly better than us on the day and we were better than Limerick, everywhere but on the final score. I think you will beat Laois.

Anyone at the U20 match in Laois last night, or looking at it on Clubber? Didn't see it myself as was at training with an underage team. Will watch it back later.

But as Wexford GAA said on Twitter, it must have been a real game of two halves.

Watched the second half, we really struggled and got totally dominated, I think only getting 4 scores. What I could not understand why we kept bringing the goalkeeper up for the frees at the end, we had 3 really scorable 2 point frees and the keeper came up and never got near with any of them. Very lucky to come away with a draw.

I watched it all on clubber. The 2 halves were like 2 separate games between 4 different teams. Agree about the frees, I think Lawless mightve been better than Foley, though I understand why the management would have wanted to slow the game down when Laois were well on top. The fading towards the end of the game has to be addressed though, happened against Carlow as well. Is it mental or physical?

Hope all goes well for the lads this evening, and hopefully there no psychological or physical hangover from the league final.
Malone, O Connor ( and Eoin Nolan) are huge losses to the squad but these lads have shown already this year that they are well capable.
And hopefully a good attendance too, these lads have earned and it !!

Eoghan Nolan is starting. Sean Nolan and Glen Malone are also big losses. The 2 of them along with Martin O'Connor all made the GAAs Football TOTW during the League.
Really hope the public get out and support the lads! Should be a good game!

Absolutely shocking from players and team selection,

It's probably a bit of a reality check. Lads getting carried away with doing well in the league this season but at the end of the day it's Divison 4 and it's the league. We are still a long way off most other Leinster teams.

Think so too. Division 4 full of teams decimated with player turnovers, look at the likes of Longford now compared to a few years ago not to mention the Waterford, Londons etc. Division 3 is a big step up, seen Laois do the same to us last year in Wexford Park and again today. Some very strange selections again. I thought we had improved and was looking forward to a close enough game but we were well off it.

Some of the lads looked tired tbh. And overall we were flat. Was that 6 or 7 weeks on the bounce? We were without 4 of the best players we had when we were flying in the League, Sean Nolan, Martin Furlong, Shane Pettit and Glen Malone, and Eoghan Nolans foot was badly bruised since last week too, probably shouldn't have started either.
Laois were very good, better at tackling especially, getting lads around the ball carrier and attacking the ball. Hopefully the lads will learn something from this.
Anyway, we have a good break before the TC, the lads can recharge mentally and maybe we can get the injured lads back.

What were selection alternatives considering the players that weren't available ?

Nice to see a reasoned, sensible, assessment of the game.
The lads looked flat. I posted earlier that I hoped there wouldn't be hangover from last week but unfortunately there was. Injuries and a crowded schedule certainly didn't help, hopefully they can regroup and come back fresh for Tailteann cup in 5 weeks.
