Maybe get teams to book it instead of the money put in to preseason travel for training. Several teams could be using it at the same time as on field use is not needed all day. The big thing is several weather postponed games could be played over a week end. Always some initiatives required to make things happen. Every little village in Canada has an ice arena with multiple rinks that would have a similar foot print and seating for a few thousand. No professional money but sponsorship for advertising around the perimeter and user fees. You are right it probably won't happen as thinking outside the box is not great.
