No harm done as it is what it is."
My apologies for that error,it should have read, Rathvilly take on Palatine in Co final replay, etc etc.

The first Championship final on in the Wee County is this weekend with the Intermediate Championship. Hunterstown who won the Division two league earlier on this year are taking on Dundalk Gaels who got relegated from Senior last year. Hunterstown last won Inter in 1999 while the Gaels last won it in 2007.

Also this weekend is the Junior Championship semi-finals with the Wolfe Tones taking on the O Connells and Lannleire playing the John Mitchells. It could be historic occassion for the Wolfe Tones who are bidding to reach their first Championship final since 1937 when they won the Louth Senior Championship. They are playing Junior since 1970s and in the early 2010s they looked to be in big trouble. In 2022 on their one hundred anniversary they reached their first Junior semi-final since 1993. This is their third year in a row in the semi-final.

Next weekend the Louth Senior Championship takes place between two teams that have won Joe Ward since 2020: Naomh Martin and St Marys. Its also a repeat of last years final and the 2020 final. Naomh Martin won the Championship in 2020 and 2021. This was their maiden titles. The Marys have won won it in 2022 and 2023 are bidding to win it three times in a row for the first time ever.

Oh, a six day turnaround as well. So much club action going on around the country, hard to keep up with it all. It is what it is. The Carlow champions of two years ago versus the Carlow champions of three years ago, tomorrow's replay should be another intense battle.

That's the beauty of club football and who knows it could be a stroll in the park or as you say another intense battle, unlike intercounty football where we can call the winner before a ball is kicked, provincial finals in particular and indeed many an all Ireland final, close coupled competitions means more games some meaningless.
The difficulty in the Carlow county final replay today is dare I say it, calling a winner.
I'm hoping for a Rathvilly win, and sure why wouldn't I. ?

Clonmore had a tough group coming up against the last 3 champions. Their opponent in the relegation final then were the runners-up from the last two years.
Are Carlow club supporters happy enough with the 3 teams advancing from the group format?

Would love to see Daingean beat East. Hardly likely?

Unlikely I would say. East Kerry will have to have an off day.
Rathvilly have beaten Palatine 2-10 to 0-11 to win the Carlow title. Rathvilly will take on the Longford or Louth champions in the Leinster quarter-finals.
Mohill will take on the Galway or Roscommon champions.
The Leitrim and Carlow county boards could have allowed an extra week for the replays.

In fairness more down to a suicidal pass.

Terrible pass to the goalkeeper. 1-1 to 0-3 is terrible scoring. Highlights the need for the suite of football changes being considered.

Its good game. Some great tackling for turnovers. Shooting is pretty poor. Dont see too many lads there kicking points from 40 metres!

The way I see it is the structure of club football within the county is not going to change anytime soon so what we see is what we get, but to answer your question no I don't think so,so it is what it is.
R'villy earned a replay the hard and that point could have gone either way, Pal were worthy county champions all the way through, I couldn't call a winner for today's game and that's the beauty of club football, mostly because it's more evenly balanced, not perfect I do admit, however my heart said R'villy.
The winning margin was 0-05 but if you look at the final score of 2-10 to 0-11 it was in effect 12 scores to 11.
At this stage I don't think I would be able to predict next year's county finalists. So I think that's a reasonably healthy state that Carlow club football is in. ( Not all will agree though)
Now before all my Carlow fans rush out for psychiatric help for me, I am not implying that any senior football club in Carlow is going to contest a Leinster final or win one for that matter, however in club football anything can happen on any given day.

An off day they had, it looks like. Dingle by far the better team in extra-time. David Clifford missing a penalty with the sides level at the end of injury time in normal time.
Dingle definitely deserve a county title for their efforts over the last number of years. They've been very unlucky. They'll face a very in-form Crokes in the final. It could be a cracker.

A poor second half from Slaughtneil today. Should be doing a lot better with the talent they have.

A surprise result for sure!
Kerry Senior County Football Championship Semi Final
Extra time Full time score
Dingle: 2-16 (22)
East Kerry: 1-14 (17)
Dingle cause a shock and have knocked out the defending champions. Dingle will go on to take on Dr. Crokes in the final. A repeat of the Senior Club final.

Down final,
Kilcoo 1-10 burren 0-04
not a lot to be said burren were embarrassing from the outset, looking to engage kilcoo from the off in the off the ball stuff, scored 1 point from open play.
6 players who won the tailteann cup, and an armagh starter who won an all ireland and this is the best they could produce.
