Goodman Greengrass. I'm good thanks. Hope all is well with you. I did indeed take part in their celebrations. I have many Tones friends and I was delighted for them. The future is bright for them. I can't disagree with you there saying that Paddy Keenan was the best player to play with Louth in your life time.

But you'll of course claim Keenan was better than Galvin. Had Louth not lost how they did and still gone out in the next round Keenan wouldn't have been in the conversation for an All-Star. oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1479 - 01/11/2024 16:43:02 2577853 Link 0 |
What people from Louth never like to admit is they kicked away that game and shouldn't have been in that position at all at that stage of the game. Yes ot was the wrong but Louth milked it for years after and used it anytime anything went wrong. They also had a change to somewhat set the record straight against Meath the following season but got hammered.

B******t. Paddy Keenan had already been nominated in 2007. People were well aware of his qualities as a footballer. Bernard Brogan has ranked Paddy as one of the five best players he has ever played with.

I agree that we had chances to put that game beyond Meath's reach. What you don't seem to realise is how hard it is for teams who haven't won at provincial level in fifty years to actually win a provincial final. I don't agree that Louth used that defeat as an excuse for failures in later years. You don't seem to realise that that result ripped the heart out of Louth football for years afterwards. Thankfully the county has recovered. Meath were well and truly buried this year. All eyes in Louth football are looking to the future and not the past. The county is delighted that a second well deserved All Star has come its way this week.

Fair play to Conroy. I don't think there can be any complaints. He had a great year. A great servant for Galway football down the years. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11419 - 01/11/2024 20:51:46 2577873 Link 1 |
Can't understand KK not getting one. Unbeaten in province. Won the final by 16 points. Lost by two points in semi final to the eventual champions. Malonemagic (Laois) - Posts: 803 - 01/11/2024 20:55:07 2577874 Link 0 |
Limerick beat Clare twice, Clare beat Cork twice and Cork beat Limerick twice so it was always going to be even with Clare getting the most as champions. I think 6 for Clare, 5 for Cork and 4 for Limerick was right but the individuals for me would have been different.

Why do you keep bringing that up? What does 2007 have to do with 2010?

Lads, you may ignore this. As my dear old grandfather used say 'convince a fool against his will, he is of the same opinion still'. The beauty of these fora is that no matter how simple the poster, he still has a say...

Do you follow the football? Morgan was the best keeper in Ireland by a mile, even going forward he would put a lot of centre forwards to shame. Well deserved and more to follow.

It's proof of the fact that he was in the conversation for an All Star not just in 2010 but also in 2007. It's another example of the fact that he was a top player.

Well in 2010 the players nominated John Galvin to the Midfield Position on their team the only deviation from the All Star team. He scored 1.3 from Midfield in the Munster Final and was MOTM, even though his team lostHe was also the MOM against Cork in the qualifier, in which they lost by a single point to the eventual Champions Walsh from Kanturk was a young fellow, who was not then or ever remotely as good a Footballer as Galvin yet he got the All Star.
