Replying To MyOhMi:  "But ask yourself why? .. I do understand that Naas are a superclub and have the numbers then to reflect this rise. But why have MLR and St Mullins rose to such a level to now be probably on par / better than much of the Wexford senior teams. 20 years ago both played in Intermediate / Junior ACHL in Wexford. They now compete in KK in both adult and underage."
St Mullins are like Oulart. A proper hurling club. Dabble in a bit of football for a bit of fun. They have great underage numbers all the way up. When they beat Ferns they had actually not played for a longer period than Ferns had.
An advantage they and MLR have is that their Senior players have far more players getting exposure to intercounty hurling than any of our clubs have since Oularts glory days. Both have 6 to 8 lads that have started numerous intercounty games. And I know I've been stating the obvious on this point for a good number of years, but if you play regularly against better opponents, and think what went right or wrong for you, work out changes you might make to compete better with any particular opposition player the next time you play on him, you will get better.

Replying To Redzer99:  "Surely Wexford changing their championship around so that the winners aren't waiting around for nearly three months for their first game in Leinster will be a big help. Martins have a bit of experience in Leinster aswell they should be going very close to beating Naas the weekend."
I'm travelling up to watch the game with the kids to meet a rabid Kildare man from Naas. I really hope Martins win or I won't be able to listen to him for months!

Would you rather we had just one or 2 super clubs that were way better than the rest then?

Replying To MyOhMi:  "St Mullins haven't hurled in 8-9 weeks.

My point is what has happened Club hurling in Wexford that we are now on par with Carlow club teams - and this isn't been dis-respectful to MLR or St Mullins - It is simply trying to figure out why they have got so much better and we seem to be in a state of limbo

Is it just a fact that they now put more into hurling in Carlow?

We seem to have fallen off the radar in Schools Hurling also - could we even say that Wexford schools are very competitive in Leinster Senior Hurling or Football.

My point is we have more investment in coaching from a county board perspective than there ever was - but this is no way reflecting the state of our club hurling scene"
We have 2 schools hurling PP A, and I think 6 or so who are now competitive in B, instead of 2 in A , a couple in B, and the rest in C and D like we used to. That's not down to the CB or games development, that's down to the change in secondary school enrolment criteria a few years back. The good hurlers are getting spread around more different schools than used to be the case.

As regards investment this has increased for sure, but the current structures that have been put in place only really started with the appointment of the current head of games development. In 2021 I think. The u12 ASH scheme only started last winter. No dual players in underage development squads only started this year at u14. We're walking to the pub for a party I hope, but we have only got to the front gate at home now.

Good to hear that the service has improved Viking.
It was quite poor in the past.

Good win for Martins. I travelled across to Newbridge and thought they were full value for the win. David Codd was my choice as MOM and Joe Barrett was excellent I thought although a Martins man told me he's not opting in for Wexford next year which is a pity.

Na Fianna will be a step up next week in the Nell.

At last. Well done st Martins. Tough game throughout. Not a classic by any stretch but they ground out the victory. Jacko and Rory were instremental but the back six never gave an inch.
Bottom line is they won and hopefully can build on this hard fought encounter.

Thought Barrett and David Codd were excellent myself. Nice to see Jacko covering ground and having an influence, hopefully this will give him the confidence to finish out the club season strongly and give intercounty a proper lash in the Spring, Rory tied up 2 men all afternoon, Barry was also very good. Dempsey in the corner was tidy too. Darren Codd made good runs into space. Kyle Firman still looks troubled by the knee, he hasn't the same zip back yet, Martins touch was better all over the field.
Nice job done Conleth Park, toilets etc excellent, still a small ground for such a big county though.

Very good win, not amazing by any measure but it's the kind of game Wexford champions have been loosing for close on a decade in Leinster. All know that this Martins generation have always had the highest possible ceiling of the Wexford clubs but haven't really threatened to reach that peak in Leinster or even Wexford at times. Here's hoping they give a good account of themselves. Do think Na Fianna are the best team in Leinster left but it's not like they're Ballyhale either, don't see any reason why Martins shouldn't be looking at winning a Leinster title, they've so much raw materials for a go at out of all the club champions Wexford have had since Oulart finished up as a force. Great opportunity in Leinster this year for the 4 teams left.

Delighted St Martins won today, it's been a long time coming for a senior Wexford club in the Leinster championship. Hopefully they give it a good rattle next week in Dublin and with a bit of momentum could win it out.

Thought the standard was quite poor but maybe it was just the pitch. I expect NaF to win Leinster

Naas only lost by three points to Na Fianna in last year's Leinster SF, you'd think the Martin's should go close on the basis of yesterday's win

Naas were only 1 down at one stage in injury time. Of course Martins have a chance. But they will be up against it in Parnell Park.

Yep me too, no affiliation to the Martins whatsoever but delighted to see our club teams move on in leinster seeing as we have done our best to hinder them over the last few years.

Clean sweep across the grades too, Fethrd getting a great win in football also. Good to see.

Went to both Senior / Intermediate Leinster games .. St Martins did well and as others said David Codd was immense and Jack O got through a lot of work. I did think this was a banana skin for St Martins and i'm delighted that they have won it and move on - There is a Leinster Championship there for the taking. Na Fianna are no Ballyhale but I do think home venue is a huge advantage to them. Rory will be double marked every day so it will be up to others to get their scores.

Rathnure ground out a win against Commercials too - far from spectacular but got the job done. The difference a week makes - their first four shots on Saturday were marginally wide while in the county final they nailed the first four. I don't think they ever really looked under pressure but the big blight was straight red to AJ Redmond. Bray Emmets next weekend who have contested the last two Intermediate Leinster finals so they are a decent outfit.

Bray will be a tough fixture ok, but the celebrations of a return to Senior should be well out of the system for the lads.
We don't seem to be particularly lucky at Senior with home draws. Will be a tough game up in Dublin.

Think our club teams doing better in Leinster is great, but we have better, fitter teams representing us this year. Hopefully they can be successful against some of the better Leinster teams going forwards now!
And I still think the new system of alternate blocks was a disaster for the standard/quality of our own championship games.
