Best of luck to both teams. Hopefully we get a good game.

It's a season short on top class games so far I think and yesterday's Leinster final was a bit of a downer.

Tough on Clare but Limerick are awesome at grinding through difficult periods.

I was saying prior to now that I didn't think Limerick were as good as Kilkenny of the 00s . I'm beginning to change my mind.

No question but the greatest team ever. So many weapons in their arsenal it's unreal.

Congratulations Limerick on your historic achievement. What an unbelievable team and hard luck Clare. You needed McCarthy nailing all the frees and Better ball distribution to the forwards to have any chance. I've no doubt Clare will dust themselves down and go again,

They are significantly better

That one will be argued over for generations.
For now Kilkenny have the stats in their favour but hurling was a different game then and the championship structure was significantly different.
What Limerick can claim after yesterday is to be the most dominant team in the history of the Munster Championship.

It's difficult to compare different eras. The game has probably moved on more in the last decade than in the previous 5 decades combined.

My argument was I think Kilkenny faced tougher opposition.

Tipp are off the ball altogether, Galway not great, Waterford struggling, Kilkenny poor by their own high standards, Cork disappeared for a few years.

Kilkenny had to contend with some brilliant teams and dominated them all.

To be fair to Limerick they can only beat what's in front of them, but it's not a great era for hurling in general.

I don't think it matters. To meet it looks like Limerick just aren't making any mistakes.

Kilkenny day dreamed into semi finals back in the day.
They beat average Waterford and Limerick sides in two of their 4 in a row.

That Kilkenny team were class but to do what this Limerick team are doing is truly impressive, especially considering the modern championship format.

Yes I don't think anyone honestly could disagree with that.

Would you have called that an average Waterford team? Aging maybe.... But in any other era they'd have won an all Ireland.

Brown, McGrath, brick, mullane, shanahan... Best Waterford team I ever saw. Very harsh to call them average.

That Waterford team were past their best when they reached the All Ireland final in 2008. They should have reached the final earlier and they'd have given a better account of themselves than the hammering against Kilkenny.

Individually that great Kilkenny team had legends that are some of the greatest players I've ever seen. Like Tommy Walsh, JJ Delaney, Henry Shefflin etc. but as a collective Limerick are clear. Their movement, scoring averages, turnover rate, fitness, creativity, skill levels from one to 15 are superior imo.

That Limerick team were backboned by lads who won 3 All Ireland u21 titles in a row in the early noughties. In any other era they would have won Senior AIs. The current Limerick team won 2 u21 AIs in 3 years.

But at senior level, that Limerick team were average, as per their results.
I think Offaly knocked out Limerick in 2010. No disrespect to Offaly, a great hurling County, but they were far from contending anything around that time.

This Limerick team are the best ever seen. They have talent in bucketsloads. The power off the bench is frightening. Kilkenny of the 00s a mighty team but this current Limerick team are leaps and bounds ahead…..Tactically outstanding
