Terrific news, two good footballing teams. Their previous two semi final meetings attracted 28k and 33k. Will Galway's domination at this stage continue or will it be third time lucky for Donegal ? Looking forward to it

You could make it free and only 55k would probably be the crowd. I remember semi finals involving Kerry attracting around the 40k mark. 55eur is exceptionally good value for money for what was on offer today.

Would dropping the price back a fiver be the difference between going or not going for many Kerry or Armagh fans?

It's an expensive day out for fans, especially families. It's the gap between games that's the biggest issue. Do feel GAA could be better marketed though at tourists and sports fans outside the hard-core support.

55,000 is a fantastic crowd. There's matches in the Euros that would barely have that number, vast majority of Premiership soccer grounds wouldn't have that capacity. Kerry crowd waited for the final and obviously that didn't work out. The crowds for the four semi finals will be very close to 250,000, incredible numbers

While 55 thousand is a good crowd, let's not use that comparison that premier league clubs don't attract that number. These clubs and the games at the euros sell out, if they were played in front of 100 thousand seater stadiums a lot of them would also

I think 55 thousand was a decent crowd for yesterday. It's nothing overly impressive but not too bad either. The tailtean cup final wouldn't have attracted a big crowd and maybe it's time the GAA start thinking about this competition and what they could do to make it more attractive. Perhaps actually giving it the respect it deserves and calling it an 'All Ireland Championship' would be one small thing, instead of relegating it to some worthless competition and calling it a Tailtean cup.

The game today looks like it will attract a massive crowd, which I'm pleasantly surprised by giving the journeys that both counties' fans have to make. It's definitely going to be over 65 thousand as all sections are on sale bar the nally, so it just really depends on how full the hill is. One thing I've thought about is how the GAA could maximise the crowds at weekends like this where clearly both games aren't selling out. Could packages be released that allow neutrals to go to both games for a discounted price, similar to what the IRFU do with November internationals? No point charging people the full price who may want to go to both games, and when there are going to be thousands of empty seats regardless.

Look Kerry don't travel - what does that mean ? We hear that ever year . I can understand that in the 70's or 80's when the roads were poor and they were dominating football , but not now- every other county will support their team .
Last yr Armagh travelled to Tralee and put numbered Kerry 6-1 in a National league match . We all know the dubs will bring a great crowd to Kerry for a NFL match - but the Kerry support in Croke Park yesterday was very poor.
Armagh have traveled to Derry ( on the worst road in Ireland - 2 -30 hours) to Sligo to play Galway- massive road trek - poor roads - took a massive crowd . But are we really suggesting that Kerry are just waiting for the final - that's lazy analysis- it's too expensive- it's too expensive for every county ( tickets and food etc ) - it doesn't add up …
It will be further for Donegal today - will they not turn up - of course they will…
Kerry also have a train service , unlike many counties- please stop using the excuse - they are waiting for the final. …

The dominant support (Clare v Kilkenny, Cork Liimerick, Armagh v Kerry) has been a key factor in the outcomes of the semi finals thus far.

Back around 10 years ago the GAA used to do block tickets for Quarters and Semis which worked out around half the price of buying 4 individual tickets.
This year they increased the prices of season tickets and reduced the perks.

Is it a result of having the former Finance Officer as CEO?

Totally, Croke Park is a business, look at yesterday, amateur players cramping up but have to bottle on because there's no replays. God forbid Croke Park being used more for sports and less concerts.

But they don't get crowds of 55,000 or today's 70,000 in the majority of cases so why is it not valid. Their games are professional and global and to think that with our small population that 250,000 people will attend four semi finals is simply mind boggling. There are very few countries that could attract those numbers.

Yes, I definitely think they were tbh. Let's be honest here - most expected them to make the final.
Apologies Armagh fans....

But even so, the number of Kerry fans in attendance at an All Ireland semi final yesterday was embarrassingly low.

An ageing Kilkenny team , a brilliant cork goalkeeper and a Kerry goalkeeping blunder led to the end results…. nothing to do with the crowd… Never seen anyone in the crowd doing anything on the field of play yet….!!!

Id say the way they are playing doesnt help.In good times and bad Kerry were always good to watch. Now they have David Clifford and do everything to make sure he isnt involved.O Connors tactics are mind bogglingly negative. So a public accustomed to all out attack and now playing like Tyrone.Would you spend a minimum €300 to watch that?

You might have a point,...

But, the difference in attendance between yesterday and today is startling to say the least.
And yesterday had the TC Final also.

Big support from both Galway and Donegal today.
Great to see them come out and support their county in great numbers, just like Armagh did yesterday.

Top quality analysis there Sherlock.
Clare's average age was actually older than Kilkennys last Sunday,
Cork - Limerick had a lot of factors leading to the result not just 2 saves ,
Jack O'Connor himself said the Armagh support was a huge factor yesterday.
Dont read me wrong, only saying they were key factors, not the determining factor.

A large partisan crowd can influence the referee. Although, I'm not in any way suggesting that was the case in the games you referred to.
