Replying To ORIELMAN85:  "Ah,sure then just have an All Ireland final between Kerry and Dublin. Forget about the prelimarys. Or maybe have a Tailteann cup final before it with Cavan and Westmeath."
They should forget about the preliminaries. Only top two from group should go through to quarter finals. Which they almost certainly will anyway,

Same should apply to hurling by the way which would most likely exclude my own county.

Whatever about hurling I agree with you that it should only be the top 2 in football going through to the Q-finals…, even at that there would be a couple of teams way out of their depth … so where does it leave 4 extra teams…. All it's doing is putting huge extra cost on these counties who haven't a snowballs chance in hell of actually achieving anything……!!!

And bottom team in Munster relegated with no play offs. All of which oukd mean chances of dead rubbers almost impossible.

Ah. Like I said, scrap it all. Go straight to Dublin and Kerry in the final. Wasting time and money on all those other games.

The chances of a Dublin Kerry final are not lessened in the slightest by having 12 of 16 teams qualify. Quite the opposite.

Dublin drew with Roscommon last year and Kerry actually lost to Mayo. I recall the Gooch after the Kerry/Mayo game basically rate it on the same level of importance as a McGrath Cup game a few days after Christmas.

Offaly V Dublin U20 Final Leinster - 15,200 plus a few thousand children according to RTE news. Not aware of any underage team with same fanbase in recent years.

Which exactly proves my point that these group games are an absolute waste of time… GAA only have them with the hope fools buy tickets thinking they are go to see actual championship football… Fools are harder to come by nowadays thankfully…!

Stay home then and give our heads peace. The most important people in this, the players, want them.

Brilliant Offaly crowd at the u20 final last night. An Offaly Cork final would fill Thurles with Cork fans bursting for games after our recent mini (hoping not a false dawn) revival.

Interesting to see how hurling attendances go this coming weekend.

Tickets available in all parts of the ground for Kilkenny v Wexford and Galway v Dublin. Will they break 20k i Kilkenny and 10k in Galway?

Antrim v Carlow will fill Corrigan Park, should be a good game.

Terrace tickets available for Limerick v Waterford. Doesn't look like it will sell out.

Very small Waterford following this year, kind of expected, poor league, county in general seemed uninspired by Davy but now the team has delivered in 3 Championship games in a row and they have themselves in a do or die battle with the All Ireland champions. A knock out game that they don't go in to with out hope, will this bring them out of the wood work? 30 - 35k maybe?

Tipp v Clare, small Tipp crowd when they had something to play for last week. Clare will expect to win. Some tickets will have been presold, they will do well to hit 10k

An awful lot of people are staying at home so they must agree with me going by the paltry attendance figures….I don't think the players on the Offaly panel would agree with you as obviously they are doing their level best to exit the competition…. Meaningless games do nothing only heap more debt on already cash strapped county boards… Fools ( like you ) and their money are easy parted as the saying goes…!!!

Time the GAA stopped playing games.
Just have Committee and Board meetings and play the National Anthem and wave the Tricolour.
Think of all the money Cavan people could save.

Speaking of attendances, what does Inniskeen hold?

I remember being there maybe 30 years ago and it had big crowd, maybe 6/7,000? You'd imagine that a rivalry like Meath/Louth and the high hopes of the Louth people would guarantee at least that? It's key game for deciding who might qualify.

Attendance in Croke Park today absolutely abysmal. Are the GAA going to wake up or keep continuing with this madness

Less than 15k in Croke park but the deluded will tell you that attendance figures at championship games are holding up well… Football Championship in big trouble….

FA Cup Final, Scottish Cup Final and Champions Cup final might have had big impact though they were all scheduled to finish before throw in.

But agreed that attendance was truly awful and looks a sign of the times.

Maybe time Dublin carry out audit of Parnell Park and see can we get that up to 20-25k capacity with upgrades.

Last night would have been the equivalent of 1600 showing up for a Donegal or Mayo championship match. Alarm bells need to be going off inside GAA HQ.

Think the Dublin Mayo match might be better suited now to a 20-25k stadium to ensure sell out and atmosphere. Maybe it wouldn't even sell out and if it didn't, we have a serious on our hands.,

Crazy venue for Dublin and Roscommon, there wasnt one person in Roscommon that thought they wouldn't get beaten by at least 10 points, very few travelled. This championship format is broken, it's time the top brass realise.

Around 62k at the first series of games in the AI round robins.
What's wrong with that?
What's all the negativity about?
Why are people from Donegal etc fretttng about the attendance at a game involving 2 other Counties?.

Total football attendance will be up again this year. Like I said before " you don't know what you don't know". Talking nonsense without one shrewd of evidence. 15,000 at a championship Rd. 1 game, not too shabby. Anywhere but Croker and it makes for a great atmosphere. Was in Ballybofey, and witnessed a great championship evening. So get back to your soccer and your love of the premiership. The GAA will manage well without your ilk. Attended 8 GAA games in the past 7 day, and considered it all good value for money.
