Replying To WEXILE:  "I don't understand how the Tailteann cup became involved in this. Wexford would have been happy to play Clare anywhere at any time on a Sunday. No need to be switching anything. Just let us play Sunday"
The Tailteann Cup comes into it because those semi-finals have to be televised under both the RTE/GAA contract and a commitment made by the GAA when the Tailteann Cup was first being established.

The TV broadcast deal also includes the rights to show the two Hurling quarter-finals live.

Can't play all those matches and show them all live at the same time, so it would have had to be a swap of the days involved.

But they have RTE News that can show games as.well as rte1 & rte2. Use News if there's a.clash.

In the past News has been used to show athletics , soccer and this year a dead rubber Tipp game in Munster.

I'm booking a flight home from Portugal to go to it. Better win now!

Please god we get the win. Tickets got but cant believe the price 45 euro a 20 euro increase on Saturday gone. The GAA should be ashamed of themselves there is no justification for these increases.

It's not just about the number of channels available to show them on. It also involves having sufficient crew and equipment in place to be able to do it.

Having everything required for live TV broadcast in let's say Thurles and Croke Park (and all the back-up needed in the studio) at the same time is a far taller order than having a crew in one place on Saturday, and in the other place on Sunday.

It's far different to showing something like URC Rugby or Euro Championships soccer or athletics, where they're just getting the feed from another provider, instead of needing to have their own crew there.

All roads leas to Thurles now.

This point has been made before but Wexford simply can't afford to keep giving so many frees away, far too many against KK the last day and same V Laois on Saturday. People saying Wexford were hard done by for a few frees on Saturday but this is a repeated pattern. Too many lads lazy tackling and loose with the hurl. We will not beat Clare unless this is rectified and the likes of O Donnell is permanently drawing fouls so let them beat us from play but we can't make a hero out of the free taker again and expect to win.

Ah they've got so much so wrong this year. No hassle getting into ticketmaster. I thought there would be a Bruce Springteen type rush.

My wife thinks I'm nuts coming home for it. I can take any scenario bar a total collapse and failing to show up .

Yeah they need crews etc. but isn't it amazing how TG4 can stream u20 and minor games with cameras and commentaries for games that aren't even down for tv. If the will was there all games could be covered.

Its the SHC quarter final

Replying To clooney:  "Wexford could win and good luck to them if they do but its unfair to blame Clare for having anything to do with the change of date this was fixed months ago surely somebody should have factored in the fact that the Feile was on this weekend in WX.

Looking forward to a great game against ye"
No one here is blaming Clare. Wex Co Board contacted Croke park about this 3 weeks ago. It's just very unfortunate for a lot of people who can't either attend or watch the game now on Saturday.

Lads,
Simple as this, Wx v Clare could have been played as a stud alone fixture but at a cost of approx €500,000, 45e for double header tickets v 30e if stand alone fixture.
30000 x 15e is 450000e

Money a big driving factor in recession

Maybe it's time to end that hoodoo regarding terrible Thurles. Our record there is quite simply awful. The players must go there and realise it's just another field. No need to bring any baggage from previous games there.
Yes we are all sick of losing at this venue and it's never been a happy hunting ground for our lads.
Will we bring massive support? Not what I'm hearing.Us wexicans just don't like the place.
Will we once again be well outnumbered by the bannermen. Hopefully that won't happen and everyone that can go will go.
Would be great if we had jippo back. Without him I would worry about our defence holding out.
As many of us have said, we simply have to cut down hugely on giving away frees. It could be a killer for us and ultimately cost us the game.

Will be backing Wexford from the UK, watched Wexford v Clare a few years ago, I was the only Wexford supporter in a pub literally full of Clare fans. Really hope we beat them, fed up meeting them everytime at this stage.

In terms of level of support there it'll most likely be 1.Cork 2. Clare 3. Ourselves 4. Dubs

I'd like to think we have a great chance Saturday, but I'm going over it in me head and I'm finding it hard to see where its Goin to come from!!! Like Clare have 2 better midfielders and 6 forwards than we do I feel!!! I also think they have better subs than us too,in the forward department!!! I feel we are going to struggle big time at centre back position and full back now that jippo is out!!! Damien reck is Goin to be in a sticky situation with Rodgers I think and O'Donnell is prob in the top two for hurler of the year how are we going to cope with him?? Physically I think we are in huge trouble Duggan Malone Fitzgerald Kelly Rodgers,in there backs too Cleary Ryan Conlon McInerney,we ain't no Limerick, these boys have been putting it up to them for 3 or four years,if Limerick hurled us in the morning I'd say realistically they beat us 15 plus!!! I'm taking my Wexford cap off and just looking at it as a neutral,I just can't see where or how we get to the levels Clare are at!!! I know on any given day but with all things equal I can't see it!!! Like who picks up the slack if chin or Mac don't play well or Rory,we never have the 3 of them on fire!!! Ah sure we go for a look and see how it goes anyway,I think we are in for a hiding,I hope I am wrong!!! Il judge us after this game as I think we will know exactly where we are in the scheme of things!!! Up Wexford
