On a lighter note
I came across a utube piece on County songs
Some were very familiar like Rose of Mooncoin and the banks and the west awake, others less familiar and a few they made up
Dublin was Raglan Rd???
My own county song is Follow me up to Carlow which is a great ballad about a Wicklow man
I much prefer The red yellow and Green by Derek Ryan
Anyway general Comments or Comments particular to your county welcome

The Offaly Rover for Offaly, by the late Frank Sweeney. Another Offaly song is 'The Green Fields round Ferbane'. Popular with the Ferbane people on good days for the green jerseys.

Star of the County Down, like that tune. Just seemed to be a very catchy number, especially when the Artane Boys Band rattle it off.

A very very good Wexford song is Cuchullain's Son. It is a song about Nickey Rackard.

Artane Boys used to play Twenty Men From Dublin Town - about the 1803 rising afaik - up to mid 70s. Written by Arthur Griffith of all people and a good rousing tune. Be all house music soon probably :-)

Fixed a few of these for ya:

Meath: Kings of Wishful Thinking by Go West

Cavan: Money, Money by ABBA

Although, it's so long since Cavan won anything that they probably wouldn't like such modernity as an ABBA song, and they would prefer to staunchly stick to their famed old traditional Cavan ballad:

The Miser's Lament for the Farthing!

Wicklow won a All Ireland Junior Football Final in the early 2000s in Portlaoise v Kerry. The Wicklow captain, Robert Doyle of Carnew after accepting the cup had the whole team up singing "Among the Wicklow Hills", lump in the throat moment. These days are rare in a weaker county. U21B All Ireland Hurling Champions v Meath in Semi Final think it was 2018. That's how rare All Ireland's are for Wicklow.

Roscommon is usually 1 of 3 songs played in Croke Park after a league win, don't know what we'd play if we won a championship game there; Men of Roscommon (go marching again), The Rose of Castlerea or Lough Ree (Where the Three Counties Meet) although Back in Roscommon has been heard too.

Cavan - The Gallant John Joe or Come Back Paddy Reilly.

Longford - Longford On My Mind

Derry - The Town I loved So Well

Limerick got rid of that one, TG. The updated Limerick song is Dreams by The Cranberries. Try to keep up with the times, Mick!

Men of Roscommon definitely the best of those three. Land of the O'Conor probably not known but a good one.
