Yeah, that's it with Fethard. Has to be said Bunclody is a bit of an odd one. Our County Board rep tells me that at the meeting in February, the Bunclody rep said they hadn't entered the league because they simply couldn't get numbers at this time of year. But when there was a suggestion that clubs who don't enter the league wouldn't get sanctions for practice matches against teams from other counties, he went mad, saying that's not fair, and they wouldn't have started lining up matches if they'd known that. So, either you have players, or you don't. If you can round up 15 to play a practice match against a team from Wicklow or Carlow, you can surely round up 15 to play a league match against a team from somewhere else in Wexford. Speculating here but looks to me a strategic decision playing teams they won't face again later in the year, possibly they seem to think that approach serves them best.

That thought has crossed my mind too, but even that would be a quare one. As keeps being pointed out, there's a long gap between league and championship, and what happens in a league match in March could be very different from a championship match in September. Also, doesn't seem to be an issue at inter-county level. In the hurling league this year, for example, Wexford, Galway and Westmeath all played each other, and will play each other again in the championship. Similarly with Cork, Limerick and Clare in our group. Then there's Tipp and Waterford from Munster in the other league group, along with Kilkenny, Dublin and Antrim, who'll all play each other again in the championship too. It only ever becomes an issue if teams have to meet in something like a league final, two or three weeks before they're also due to play in championship. But when the gap is months, nobody minds. I'm not agreeing with that logic just trying to come up with a rationale from their point of view.
