In fairness in the Galway game they butchered a 2 on 1 goal chance with 8-9 mins left that would have put them 8 points clear, if the Dublin game had ultimately knocked us out that would have been a sickner although it probably cost us a leinster final spot, that and the game in Mullingar.

Nothing unlucky about that butchered chance. The sliotar didn't hit a divot and bounce wide or anything like it TerribleFootwork!

Galway have agreed to double up the League game on the 4th as the Walsh Cup Final. Sensible option I guess.

Replying To HurlingBuzz:  "I wouldn't give a toss about the strength of the respective teams in January . All that matters is that when we played Kilkenny in nowlan park last year and both teams had their best available players on the field, we beat them. Thankfully wexford players and supporters no longer dread meeting our neighbours at any level like we did for many years . Long may that continue."
We beat them and that was that as usual they improved won leinster and got to final we just went out and never produced that form again if only all teams could wear the kk Jersey we might have a few more all irelands in our pockets.

If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

Read the OP CC. Surprised at you. The OP said we were lucky to get a draw against Galway. I was pointing out luck had nothing to do with it by that post.

Agree but I saw on another thread that adult price for league games has gone up to €18. Don't know prices for oap's, students etc. Fairly steep for a league game particularly when the league is becoming more preparation for championship than the major competition it used to be.

This is a complete exaggeration, even when we were in the complete doldrums 10-15 years ago a league game vs Galway would get the crowd your suggesting, the crowd likely won't be as big but probably still around 6 thousand there, one of the appeals to last Saturday for people who are less regular attendees was the price (10 euro for adults and 2 for u16s), to increase div1 league games to 18 euro at this point in time is poor from the GAA in my view, 4-5 years ago you could go to this game for 12 euro, realistically the league is less of a priority to the top 8-9 teams now than at any point in the last 15 years, since the provincial round robins were introduced and the shortened gap between league and championship there essentially a tune up for these competitions along with chances for less experienced players to get exposure.

15 for students and OAPS, u16s free and don't need a ticket, ordinarily kids would have been free last Saturday no ticket needed but as the available capacity was tested and filled that obviously wasn't the case.

Think myself that Croke Park are very wrong to bump the League ticket prices up to €18. And to answer somebody above who didn't know, it's €15 for a student or OAP.

Bear in mind that strictly speaking, that means a 16-year-old in Transition Year has to pay €15 to attend a League match in early February. Steep.

The Walsh Cup game not going ahead next Saturday could work in the GAA's favour if a Glen/Kilmacud replay transpires and its the curtain raiser to Dublin/Kildare, would get a bigger crowd and more national publicity than a Walsh Cup final especially after all the controversy of the 16 or 17 players.

Can't see the replay being fixed that soon. Both sets of players were likely on the beer the last 2 days and Saturday is only 4 days away now
