Replying To Doylerwex:  "Very disappointed to hear Richie Lawlor and Kyle scallan dropped.

Richie was the pick of that group last year."
Surprised to hear Richie Lawlor was dropped. Not so Kyle Scallan. I think only 10 of 40 were to be kept on. That's new lads from this year and last year. Hopefully the 10 lads put their best foot forward now between now and the end of the Walsh Cup. A few new faces for the League is what we need.

I was in at the u21 final Saturday night and was talking to some harriers lads, they said Richie Lawlor is getting an operation on his foot soon which puts him out for the next 3 months,I think it's more he's leaving it off for this year, they said Kyle scallon is doin the last 6 months block of college of his apprentice in Limerick so he's just not committing this year!!! Hopefully they stay commit in the future,2 of the better lads on show Saturday night

If they didn't show up they weren't dropped. Shame.

That's brilliant Richie Lawlor is getting his foot sorted out properly. Should've got that op a few years back tbh. And that both will be back competing for a place next year.

While I don't condone it, is there nowhere in Wexford / Waterford that Scallan can do his apprenticeship. For his own personnel development he is better off getting away for a while, so best of luck to him. Are other counties "looking after" their young players better that we are?? When I say "looking after" I mean, moneywise, job / career, and studying wise?

From friends and family I think usually its 1 phase in Waterford and another further afield, the people i knew did a phase in Dublin or Cork don't know anyone that was based in Limerick.

Without doubt other counties must look after their younger players better...starting 15 from minor team in 2019 listed below - these lads should be coming into team now after couple of years "development".... Will EVEN ONE of them be in the panel this year now ???

Cian Byrne
Dylan Whelan
Kyle Scallan
Joe Conroy
Justin Moran
Cian Molloy
David Codd
Jack Kirwan
Luke Kavanagh
Josh Sheil
Dylan O'Neill
Paddy Whitty
AJ Redmond
Richie Lawlor
David Cantwell

I think that's largely a thing of the past. Most intercounty lads seem to be choosing teaching as a profession these days, including alot of our own lads.

Most of them aren't. At least 3 are. Most minor team members never make it to Senior in any county. Look at Galway especially.

I think the lads the year after could have as much or more of an impact at Senior down the line, this year's u20 team essentially. 1 or 2 of the lads you named don't even hurl with their clubs 1st teams now.

Was at the div 1 final between Anne's and Blackwater as a neutral. One player who is seriously being overlooked in all these discussions is Eoin Ryan.

He's a good player. Hopefully he will get his chance with the Senior Hurlers this year.

I wouldn't say he's overlooked really. He was a key performer for the 20s. I expect it's only a matter of time before he's nailed on at senior, and we could do with another solid back.

He's from serious stock too. Darragh one of the best we ever had
