Ah at underage? Yes for sure. The Boro and Village have huge numbers underage In Kilkenny. The loss of players between underage and adult is a countrywide problem in urban areas.

I don't think we have many lads ready made to step up. Better to bring them in gradually as they get up to Senior intercounty speed and intensity.

I'd say you would find that a surprisingly large number of traditional football clubs would prioritise hurling if pushed.

Caroline Currid leaving the Limerick camp...... if you were to listen to some lads on here Limerick will never win a match again as a sports psychologist seems to be the most important part of inter county hurling nowadays grassroots01 (Wexford) - Posts: 177 - 11/10/2023 09:31:08 2507821 Link 0 |
It's not the most important but it is important. Very noticeable she was always one of the first people, along with Kinnerk, that Kiely credited when interviewed.

And you can be very sure they will have another in place shortly.

I think it's well known that some of the best managers of all time were very good sports phycologists in their own right. Or good man mangers as the saying goes. Niamh Fitz was credited with doing great work in 1996 also. Definitely a major role for sports phycologists in the modern game. ontheball247 (UK) - Posts: 19 - 11/10/2023 11:16:37 2507839 Link 0 |
Last again but at last we are to have bucket seating installed in Wexford Park. Almost every other county ground has them for years Better late than never I suppose. When they are fitted it will provide comfort for us fans. No more being squashed up against other people. Also aesthetically it will give the Park a new fresh modern look. Should have created a new topic for the above post. Sorry about that.

Was mentioned in a video put out by Wexford GAA a number of weeks. I think in it they mentioned some of new seating would be installed for the football final?

I know they were taking the seating out of the Ard Comhairle section of the stand this week - clubs got an email on Friday saying they could come this week and take some of that seating away if they wanted it themselves for their own grounds or whatever. So I expect those seats will be replaced in time for the county finals next weekend. Would be majorly surprised though if new bucket seating could be installed in the entire main stand in the space of just a week. Probably more likely that work will be done while the ground is more or less closed for a month or two over the winter. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2621 - 11/10/2023 15:09:46 2507906 Link 0 |
Will it reduce capacity?

That makes sense so. Yeah, in fairness now that you say it. I think it was mentioned that just the Ard Comhairle section in time for the football final.

Yes it would reduce capacity viking but not majorly. Small price to pay I would say for the benefits gained. I think pikeman is right about the bulk of the work to take place when the season is over. Should look great next year for the league games and championship. Magpie2 (Wexford) - Posts: 386 - 11/10/2023 17:02:04 2507926 Link 0 |
They were over subscribed with enquirys seemingly so could only allocate a certain amount to each club. Some of the clubs that have stands were obviously looking for a lot New Ross etc as it would make sense. So there was no shortage of takers. They were all taken away on Monday

Pat Gilroy told a good tale lately after his first season as Dubs manager, after an awful hiding from Kerry in Croke Park, he wrote down a list of 12 players that should never play again for them and something like 10 went on to win to multiple All Ireland's after! So as much as that Westmeath defeat, and the manner of it, should end a number of inter county careers, we don't really have the options to do it. Rossiter for me needs to lay down the law with a number of the experienced players, who appeared to do what the liked under Egan to try and get some kind of response from them. Tactically we were a mess under Egan so again that's something I think he can address. Take the NHL a lot more seriously too, last year was a joke...that Clare game alone was a disgrace. Whether he can fix the inability of the forward line, Chin aside, to win primary possession, getting the scoring percentage up from shots taken from play/frees, getting the best players in the county to fully commit and stay injury free...well they are the easy parts! Primary possession is a big problem for the team. Outside of Chin our next best aerial ball winner was probably Charlie Mcguckin the last couple of years. And he would likely be better as a halfback going forwards. Hopefully over the next few years lads like Clancy, Kinsella, O Hagan etc might step up. But really I think we need to play more of a gameplan to suit what we have, as well as the traditional high long dropping ball we stuck with last year . We have smaller faster forwards so play low hard fast ball into space for these lads to run on to, either between the half forward and inside lines, or over the top into the corners.
