Replying To Cockney_Cat:  ""I don't understand is why it's not possible to even write a post after 10 p.m. We all know it wouldn't appear until it's reviewed and approved the following day anyway - so why not be allowed to at least write a post and have it sit there overnight?"

I was thinking it's probably because of the amount posts the moderator would have to deal with next morning, especially if he or she only has about an hour to deal with them. You could get a fair amount of posts between 10pm and the next morning. I used to enjoy the late night banter on the old forum."
Some of the best posts on this were written late at night CC!!

The Non-GAA Forum, if you had bothered to read it, covers anything non-GAA, you could have put your comment in there, or stated a new Topic about Garth Brooks. Since you've posted, two other people have posted about GB. So now, the topic at hand has been highjacked by a load of drivel about some singer I'd never heard of until I read about him on here,"

Terrible new format really.
Trolling, wind up merchants shut down any decent discussion.
When there was an individual county page, most would not bother going to it.
I visit the page far far less than I used to.
All that is needed is a "Flag as inappropriate/trolling/etc" for certain messages, and certain users be admins as well, similar to boards.

Not an enthusiast of the new forum either. It is a pity that posts are not posted as soon as created. It is probably brcause adminstrators can not give more time to it. Now it seems to be closing down earlier. Probably users would not be willing to pay but if the product was good enough may be. It is hard to be too critical of the forum or the majority of the posters. At this stage it feels like you know some personally even though you don't. Good and knowledgeable GAA people for the most part. We all wear our rosy glasses at times and that is understandable but also can see things from some one elses view point.

it would need lot more changes to be more like boards.ie

boards.ie recently got a makeover and its very poor but even that is miles ahead of here

I like the "not after 10pm" rule. If you're anything like me, what you write before 10 generally will be more intelligent, and less emotional, than the diatribes that are produced after 10pm lol.

Perhaps they also could get in some clever AI software to filter out 90% of the nutters, and use a "report" button for any nasty stuff that slips through the net. You don't nowadays need an army of human admins.

I do miss the national focus of the previous format though. You can't usually chip in on a different county's county championship thread.

Yeah, your post was well before 10pm, which doesn't help my argument lol.

However:

"The same study cited above suggests that people are more likely to post offensive comments late at night and at the beginning of the week, which is also when people are most likely to be in negative moods."

Cyber space don't guarantee a speedy delivery service whether it's before 10 or after 10 o clock, this one should get there faster.

Anyone posting from outside of Europe most likely will be doing so after 10 p.m. I guess when you live in a cocoon you get the narrow minded blinkers type approach to every thing that exist outside of that.

It has nothing to do with narrowmindedness. Comments have to be checked/moderated before they are allowed. They (Hoganstand) haven't the resources to cover 24 hours of commenting.

yet a lot of other websites with far less moderators etc can do it.
Compare other sites to here and how they moderate and manage how people post...

Yes they can, because they have the resources to do it. Didn't you understand what I said in my original post? It's not rocket science.
