I preferred the older format and also that late night posts would be there in the morning. After the 2008 All Ireland final, Jim from Wexford produced one of the all time Guinness inspired classic HS posts entitled 'Gods or what'.
I totally understand the reason for the changes but under the old system we had very healthy debates on national items (eg the Cork hurling strike 2009) and in our respective county forums there were great posts about the club scene. They're all a bit mixed in together now so it is a lot different.

There is no doubt there are a few good posters on this forum who are capable of putting together a worthwhile post that reads well, and then there is the other side of the coin. I'm sort of easy enough but it's my belief that no matter how professional or user friendly the HS forum model is it matters little if quality posts are not coming through.
There's a few reasonable posts doing their rounds at the minute, however the post that sticks in my mind a bit is the Garth Brooks post of a few months ago here on HS forum, it was hot topic at the time, some good and some not so good points were made, exchanging pleasantries went out the window at times.
He is putting on his second concert tonight (Sat) with three more concerts left to be staged in Croke Park I was sort of expecting it to get a mention here, because as you pointed out in your post, "A national forum should only discuss matters with a country wide interest." Garth Brooks has put together five sell out concerts in CP, so there is indeed a massive country wide interest,- at least.

On the old board, every post was there for you to read, you could look back through the years and find and read old posts like Jim's. Now, the oldest post on here is from the beginning of this year 31/01/2022.

The Non-GAA Forum, if you had bothered to read it, covers anything non-GAA, you could have put your comment in there, or stated a new Topic about Garth Brooks. Since you've posted, two other people have posted about GB. So now, the topic at hand has been highjacked by a load of drivel about some singer I'd never heard of until I read about him on here,

Good summation. - In fairness to Garth Brooks at the end of his tour he will have played more times in Croke Park than most counties will have in a life time, and no need for Hawk Eye..

Back on topic, and nothing to do with Garth Brooks (!).....still firmly believe myself that several threads are needed for each county to keep topics separate, instead of having one "catch-all" Wexford GAA thread (for example) where there could be six or eight different conversations ongoing at the one time, e.g.:
- Wexford club football
- Wexford club hurling
- Wexford inter-county football
- Wexford inter-county hurling
- Club championship structures
- Wexford GAA TV streaming
etc.
But even with things the way they are, one thing I don't understand is why it's not possible to even write a post after 10 p.m.
We all know it wouldn't appear until it's reviewed and approved the following day anyway - so why not be allowed to at least write a post and have it sit there overnight? Just seems strange that you can write a post at 9.55 p.m. but not 10.05 p.m., when the 9.55 one isn't going to be looked at until the following day anyway.
Only thing I can think of is maybe people are more inclined to right stupid or unsuitable stuff late at night, after they've maybe had a few scoops?? :)

I was thinking it's probably because of the amount posts the moderator would have to deal with next morning, especially if he or she only has about an hour to deal with them. You could get a fair amount of posts between 10pm and the next morning. I used to enjoy the late night banter on the old forum.

Lol, strangely enough, my mother, unlike many of the people attending his concert(s), and plastering it all over their social media feeds just in case someone doesn't know they've gone up, IS actually a fan of his, always has been, but decided in the end not to go up, too much hassle haha.
