Replying To Magpie2:  "Apparently not. Gerry Forde is travelling to London and Spratt will be in Carlow for hurling commentary. There seems to be a technical issue for south east radio broadcasting from the uk.
As the football is on Sunday 1.00 pm and the hurling is Sunday 1.30pm throw in it wouldn't have been possible to broadcast the two games live even if there were no technical issues over the water. I purchased the Wexford Galway game on Clubber today."
Thanks

Replying To Stmunnsriver:  "so the football is not on clubber, not on wexford gaa tv not on south east radio, the hurling [a pre season tournament

It's not a case of deciding which matches are more important, and deciding National League counts for more than a pre-season tournament, and so it's the League match that should be shown.

Clubber's arrangement is with Leinster Council, who run the Walsh Cup & O'Byrne Cup, and it extends only to certain competitions run by Leinster Council. Would expect they'll also be streaming U17 & U20 Leinster Championship matches later in the year, same as they did last year.

Clubber have no agreement with Croke Park, who run the National Leagues. Croke Park's TV/streaming arrangements are with RTE, TG4, and GAA GO. Highly unlikely any of those will choose to show matches from Div. 3 or Div. 4. Make what you like of that, but that's the way it is.

Then, as Viking points out, Wexford GAA TV's remit extends to club matches only. And even if they were allowed to stream inter-county matches, I'd say the logistics of shipping all the equipment to London and streaming from there would make it prohibitive anyway. I believe the ground in Ruislip doesn't even have wifi.

And lack of wifi there probably means South East Radio couldn't do full commentary from there either, even if it didn't clash with the hurling match.

I admire your determination to see Wexford footballers in action and it's a pity we don't have many more football supporters as ardent as yourself, but am afraid you're out of luck as regards seeing the match on Sunday. Unless you go try pick up a last minute flight!

Wexford GAA don't have the rights for the national league, bar the Div 3 and 4 finals I'd guess not a single Division 3 or 4 game will be shown on TV or available on the stream same as the lower divisions of the hurling league, has always been the case bar the 2 years Covid impacted crowds. Trying to turn this into a football v hurling thing is childish is all honesty.

Well I'd say I'm either a GAA man or a sports fan in general. Are you a GAA man or a football man? Rest of your post is just irrelevant to this discussion talking about stuff before I was even born and honestly just reinforces the point I already made about you. You seem to be just looking for an excuse to go off on 1 of these rants.

Accusing somebody of thinking football doesn't matter or doesn't deserve respect, when all they've done is explain the broadcasting/streaming arrangements that are in place, is a sign of something all right.

Will think twice myself before replying to him in future.

Wouldn't worry about him, he's plenty of form, his post after the Wexford/ Westmeath game last May tells you everything about him.

So your accusing someone of being touchy after yourself claiming that someone had no respect for football after they simply explained broadcasting arrangements?

Most of us are dual fans, belonging to dual clubs. Im as disappointed as you are that there's no live stream or radio commentary, as are many Wexford people, likely including the fella you were having a go at, who definitely went to some Wexford football games last year the same as us. Yes there are hurling men who post on this forum who don't care much for football, and lads like you who are the other way inclined. You were the lad who got touchy first! Alot of the Wexford posters on this were still in National School in the 70s, or werent even born FFS:-D

If the team named starts its mostly along expected lines particularly 1-9, 1 or 2 surprises in the forwards taught at least 1 of Mark Rossiter or Cian Hughes would start, hopefully they'll get the job done tomorrow.
