Replying To Freethinker:  "Worryingly, their narrative and language is reminiscent of sentiment which brought national socialism to power in 1920/30s Germany. If we fail to learn from history we are bound to repeat it. That is the scary part of all this racist commentary. I too am proud of our latest Irish athletes - all of them regardless of creed or colour."
That's it and far right party in Germany already starting to try and paint the SS in a better light. The far right in Ireland already have links with a lot of these unsavoury crews. The irony as well that they've befriended Tommy Robinson and the BNP types. The same thugs who were only too happy to beat up Paddy's in the 70s and 80s.

I'd agree it would be worrying if there was an actual far right movement here to be worried about.
All I see is a few mouthpieces, hardly a threat!

Bad weekend for Irish Rugby with both Leinster and Munster knocked out in URC Semi Final. Good opportunity lost for Munster to retain the title with a home final

Seriously. How many anti immigration centre candidates won seats in Wexford? Rosslare alone?

NP are irrelevant. The combined "far right" vote as,defined by establishment won over 20% of vote.

Deal with facts for once.

That fella was the only candidate campaigned in Wexford under an anti immigration banner.

What's this definition of far right and where did they get 20%

I was delighted to see Mick Wallace, Claire Daly, are not returning to Europe. Glad to see Brid Smith failed in her efforts to be elected to Europe. People rejected their arguements.
What does a celebrity candidate like Nina Carberry know about European matters? I never saw her in the pre election debates on television or radio.

What a collapse by Rory McIlroy. That's as big a choke as you'll see anywhere in top level sport. That meltdown will haunt him for a long time. The winner De Chambeau hardly hit a fairway all day .

He reminds me a bit of Harrington back in the day. Always rabbitting on about his mental state, game wise. While state of mind is an important, if not essential, component of any sportspersons approach to their sport, it seems to be a bit odd to be continually going public on it. Unless it is to explain future shortcomings.

No, no, no. Don't be changing the goalposts. For two years anyone who questioned the placing of accommodation centres was vilified as "far right". Candidates whose main or one of whose main issues was opposition to centres won more than 20% of the vote.

In fact you could add to that the election of members of established parties such as FF and SF- I can think of one in your own county - who also stood up on behalf of their communities on this issue and retained their seats. Others evidently on the other side lost seats.

Don't expect an answer to substantiate that. Because it's simply not true.

You might get a link to a gript article if you're lucky.

I think that was deliberate. She can hardly talk about her political experience. Wouldn't get too many votes talking about the 2:15 from Kempton or her frock in Dancing with the Stars. In fairness Fine Gael ran a smart campaign to get both herself and Maria Walsh elected.

I've told you what the definition of "far right" was. It is an establishment definition and candidates labelled as such took more than 20%. Is this difficult for you?

You people are gas. Constant moving of the goalposts. Or ought that be the deck chairs ????

He's always rabbiting on about it, because the media are always probing it, and he's usually mannerly and accommodating with the media that show up at these events. 90% of the time McIlroy isn't happy front running a tournament, and that hits 100% in the major championships. This was a legendary choke, that will sit with Sanders, Van de Velde, Mickelson and Norman in the last 50+ years of golf history.

There was the lad in Leitrim who got a massive 34 votes.

I know Leitrim has a small population but 34 people doesn't equal 20% by my count.

You might have another look at the statistics.

Councillor reelected on first count in Carrick was main opponent of centre there.

Poor response. Try better or take Viking's example and ignore the evidence.
