Replying To tiobraid:  "Hoping hurling can take centre stage again this weekend after the epic game of football yesterday. I might upset a few Galway people again now but...

Limerick to win by 8
Clare to win by 2

I just cant see Galway scoring enough against this Limerick backline. In the other game I think its going to be close. If Clare play to Munster final level they'll win in my opinion but no so sure they will. Wouldnt rule out extra time in this one."
Not upsetting me anyway. It could be around that margin which I would see as just about within the limits of respectability. Still, if we were playing Clare who appear to be at Limerick's level, I'd be confident that the border rivalry would ensure that it would be a very tight game so I'm not giving up all hope yet of a better result.

As regards Clare vs Kilkenny I predict Clare to win by 4 points.

Replying To Viking66:  "The 5 lads you named as being Corks best lads under 25 would likely not make it onto the current Limerick team. And would likely not make it onto the Limerick team for the next few years. So you are proving Oldtourmans point there Tiobraid."
You're also not reading what I'm saying! I didn't say they are corks best 5 nor did I suggest they'd make it into the limerick side or are capable of beating Limerick. My point is simply that under a new regime I feel theres improvement to be made in Cork.

No you didn't say they were Corks best 5 but they were the players you named out of their under 25 players. I thought that that implied you thought they were the lads for Cork to build a team around going forward. I was merely pointing out that a team built around 5 lads who aren't good enough to get on the Limerick team now, and likely won't be good enough to get on it over the next few years, is unlikely to beat Limerick over the next few years.

Calling hurling results can be a minefield. Clare v Wexford was very close with Wexford perhaps dominating the first 57 minutes but Clare won by 4. Suggesting a 5 point win for Clare does not necessarily mean that Clare dominate KK.

On the other hand I would expect Limerick to win comfortably based on what I have seen from both teams so far this year. Galway were poor the last day v Cork (Cork were the better team on the day but suffered due to terrible decision making on the pitch) and I cant see how they could raise there performance levels enough to threaten Limerick.

That being said, man for man Galway have the physicality to live with Limerick for part of the game but Galway are lacking a bit to stay in the game.

Anything can happen in a semifinal but those scores mightn't be too far away if Clare and Limerick get motoring!

Ha .... ye've already proved that ye can. Here's hoping Galway play as well as they are capable of .. it'd be the first time this year, but they definitely have it in them

Don't think I've ever been as pessimistic about Galway in an All Ireland semi final, they have somehow ended up here after what can only be best described as a very uninspiring campaign, with little or no form whatsoever to go on for next Sunday. Then again with Galway being Galway, nobody would be surprised to see them play out of their skins next Sunday and somehow beat Limerick, but then again nobody would be overly surprised either to see Limerick win this game quite easily. So I am predicting Limerick to win this won by eight points, with Clare (hopefully) beating Kilkenny by six points

There goals goals in Coady and Reid. Would expect Kilkenny to win 7-8 points.

Why are you hoping Clare beat Kilkenny?

Think everyone appreciates Munster hurling in general. I've followed Limerick in it since the 90s. At the same time this year's championship was disappointing with 3 teams fairly well off the pace of the other 2. Usually there might be 1 off the pace.

Most hurling followers, outside of Kilkenny, will naturally be hoping Clare will win. It is only natural as KK have nine times more All Irelands than Clare and most sports people favour the underdog.

Probably because along with Tipp and Cork you lads have won around 3/4 of all the All Ireland hurling titles won!

There are a number of reasons along with the one mentioned by others. Clare are next door neighbours, west of the Shannon, historically and geographically in Connacht. There are also a lot of people in Galway, who would have nothing against KK, but are very unhappy with Cody's treatment of Shefflin.

Goals in Coady unless he's marked by Jack Grealish, then there's nothing in him!

'no one would be surprised if Galway beat Limerick'.....really.....did you mean to say everyone, instead of no one, there, by any chance? You're obsessed with that oul piseóg about 'Galway hurlers, inconsistent, which will show up, bla bla etc', and a lot of it is media driven bull****e.

Since 2009, when Galway first got established in a provincial championship (in modern era), they are as 'consistent' as any team in the country, and that's a fact. We've all seen that 'Premier League Table' published recently showing 'tier1' hurling counties, and their premier league positioning based on their last 38 hurling championship games. Galway are placed 2nd on that table.

Diasappointing I know to realise that this Jekyl & Hyde reputation is largely media driven claptrap. So don't be disappointed on Sunday, when even our best 'doctor jekll' will likely be no match for the jolly green giants.
