Should The Leagues Be Re-Tiered?

Replying To RHF:  "I don't see why the leagues should be changed because some teams are to good for others and it's hard for promoted teams to stay in Division 1. Is that not the whole idea of a league system that the best teams will be in the top Division?"
This 4 division system is only relatively new in the grand scheme, since 2008. We had many different iterations over the years. Surely though it's not hard to see that the gap had widened in places since then? A 4 division structure literally stacks on top of each other and stretches the quality over narrower grades. Do we not want to expose teams to a better grade rather than sectioning them off to themselves?

Look, my point is this: Surely if we're moving to a 2 tier Championship, it would be better to mirror the League on it if we want both to be competitive. Sure, each individual division is competitive right now, but it widens gaps between each, so that when Championship comes along, the same small bunch are the ones who dominate and you have a lot who fall away easily as they never get to play those. A 2 tier League which mirrors Championship will allow us to see who is who, where they are, allows any team to go up or down a Tier yearly, and exposes teams to teams with a level above and below them, and prevents closed shops. Is there a reason some are so stuck to this system of League, other than it suits their own county? Do we not want our football to get more competitive?

Like, I like the League, but it really should be to get things in order and ready for Championship which is the big one. But if we have a system that widens gaps between teams, and not helps narrow it, then how will we ever have a decent Championship when no more than the same few teams can win it? Why not try and change it, what's to lose here?

There was a D4 back in the 1980s.
There was going to be in 1999/2000 but because Kerry and Dublin were going to be in D3 they went with a D1A , D1B etc which was abandoned 8 years later.
How about LEAVE THE LEAGUES ALONE!!!

Go back and have a look and you'll see many different variations of Leagues over the years. Why are you so obsessed with the Leagues as they are? Are we never ever allowed to change anything ever again? Am I not even allowed to discuss it? I've given very good reasons, and data to back it up. It's our secondary competition and it needs to be of benefit to as many as it can, and it just simply isn't. So chill, we're allowed to discuss changes

Yeah ok you've a right to discuss something and these things should always be regularly re-examined to make sure we're doing the best thing for the association but I really don't think you've collected robust data to say that division 1 is a closed shop.

Armagh went up a few years ago and have now survived 2 seasons.

Donegal have survived now a few years.

Roscommon have yo-yo'd a bit as have the likes of Cavan and Meath Galway and Kildare.

Derry, Cork have all been there recently enough and weren't up and straight back down.

Dublin have just been relegated, Tyrone have been in division 2 recently enough. There's so many counter examples to your chosen examples.
