I'd agree. Sport is no fun if you know who is going to win before the match starts. There's been a noticeable drop off in Dubs support after they won a few. I also watched less matches over the last few years. Tyrone support also shrunk a bit from 2005 onwards too. You'd expect the same to happen if Mayo finally win one. If Tyrone became as dominant as Dublin, I'd enjoy it for a year or two, but I'd expect I'd maybe watch less games and be less likely to make an effort to attend if it was already a done deal. This is the long term vision of the GAA - Should get there by 2050. The women probably met on zoom one evening while cooking the dinner at the same time and had the whole thing agreed and sorted before the table was clear!

There has to be a certain level of logistics and a demand before you do that. Beo i think have that intention so will be interesting to see if it becomes commercially viable. Some of the streams I have seen have been novelties but you'd think twice before paying for them with the level of tech they have. Also has to be worth their while. It's grand for smaller games where county boards like Offaly and Dublin and I'm sure others have provided excellent coverage but a lot of that is voluntary. Plus RTE, TG4, BBC, pay for the rights for some games and arrange and pay for their crews. Less hassle for the GAA but it could be more lucrative to arrange their own crews and better market some live stream subscriptions.

Surely that business case for logistics/demand can't be any more or less complex than for the Ladies division 1, 2, 3 & 4 leagues all of which kick off this weekend and all of which will be streamed live throughout the season and at a reasonable price too. Not saying it has to be RTE or TG4 that does it, but if the LGFA have made it work for every league match in all divisions this season, surely the GAA can too?

Good point. Hadn't really thought of it as something GAA would do as a bigger venture. could be something there, and you would need a fair bit of capital to kick it off. I'll have a look at the women's games, but I'd be dubious that they are going to make anything out of it given the small potential audience, but fair play to them. I've mentioned Offaly before as I came across their coverage of their underage teams when they played Dublin and it was really well done. I'd imagine though again that this was a proper service to their members rather than in the hope of making anything out of it.
