I think Crokes are still hurling Benny, Tralee Town have setup a team now called Parnells, I think Kilgarvan have a hurling team as well.

Great result and will give the hurlers great confidence although we know Tipp very understrength. I don't agree with you too often Fionn but you are correct about Kilkenny and more should be done by the county to improve football standards.

To those who said this doesnt mean anything because its January and largely Tipps second team you just dont know anything about hurling. The strength in depth in Tipp Kilkenny Limerick Galway and Cork is massive.Well done to Kerry a terrific win and we look forward to seeing you in Mullingar in the first round of the league

A fantastic weekend for Kerry hurling! Past hurler (None) - Posts: 725 - 09/01/2022 16:46:22 2394240 Link 3 |
Wasting your time Jobber. I spend lots of time telling people how good Carlow, Westmeath and Kerry are at hurling and I get blank expressions from people thinking Im joking. Well done to Kerry and we will see yourselves and Westmeath in the league. carlovia (None) - Posts: 1517 - 09/01/2022 17:12:03 2394244 Link 1 |
Tipp must have fielded their Camogie team :D realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8591 - 09/01/2022 17:27:12 2394248 Link 2 |
It's not a mad result as Kerry are a strong hurling team. In the last few years Leix beat Dublin in championship. Antrim beat Wexford in the league. Carlow drew with Galway in the league and Westmeath ran Cork to a couple of points. They are good hurlers. carlovia (None) - Posts: 1517 - 09/01/2022 17:56:28 2394253 Link 1 |
Kilgarvan definitely have hurling. Always had in my memory. It's kind of an outlier as dome of the neighbouring clubs are in a part of Cork with little hurling. Austin Stacks used to have hurling? Do they still ? oDid Parnells replace that or compliment that? Well done to Kilmoyley today to. That was a cracking game. Courceys were leading done the home straight. Could not finish the job and Kilmoyley were the better team in ET and deserved to win. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 09/01/2022 18:38:03 2394261 Link 1 |
Of course they are good hurlers, all county players are good hurlers. I wouldn't put Antrim and Laois in the same bracket as Kerry in Hurling though, I still think its a mad restult, sorry!

Hi Benny. Not sure if Stacks still hurling but I think Tralee Parnells were set up as there are a few football clubs in Tralee and because of club loyalty players from other clubs did nt want to hurl with Stacks so this way they can play football with their own club and hurl with Parnells. Diarmuid Lyng from Wexford lives in Kerry now and is involved in Parnells. Great win for Kilmoyley and Kerry hurling.

Tralee Parnells have been progressing from underage up for a good few years now. It'll become more evident over the next 5 to 10 years. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7842 - 10/01/2022 08:20:49 2394320 Link 0 |
Well deserved win and while Tipp were obviously not at full strength they still had a stong team named - a team full of players that we'd hope would make an impact this year. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 10/01/2022 08:36:51 2394323 Link 1 |
Hi Tiobraid. Thanks for the nice and very sporting comments ré Kerry hurling. I'd expect nothing less from Tipp.Agree totally about Tipp and football. It's such a pity as they have great talent. Wishing Willie Connors a speedy recovery.

Thanks Mick. I see on FB they were formed in 2012 No harm in a town the size of Tralee, that they have a separate identity for hurling. Is there much of a crossover of players between the big football clubs with them I wonder? Do the football clubs cooperate with them? ATM, given their success, Rockies, Na Gaeil etc , are in a very strong position. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 10/01/2022 09:36:16 2394330 Link 0 |
Kerry have beaten both Antrim and Leix in recent years. They also have beaten Offaly, Westmeath and Carlow. carlovia (None) - Posts: 1517 - 10/01/2022 11:06:55 2394350 Link 0 |
Everyone knows Kerry have competed very well in the Joe McDonagh Cup and Division 2A in recent years. Kerry are consistently enough in the Top 14 in the country. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7842 - 10/01/2022 12:09:56 2394363 Link 0 |
Sound man Benny, I'm not a big hurling fan, I'd watch a bit on the telly from time to time but hurling seems to be growing in the county, I can't ever see it taking off in places like South Kerry or back here in the wild West but it should in big urban areas like Tralee and Killarney.

I'm not sure Benny as I live in Dublin now but from what I hear it's amicable.
