There should be 16 in intermediate so there relegation groups would be easier

Not a bad wee team named in the circumstances. Dowd, Hughes, Treanor and Carolan have looked quite promising so far so good luck to them starting.
Bench light on attacking options - Davy and Mooney have to deliver. Good new options at the back, midfield very vulnerable.
Hard (almost impossible) to see a win against a strong Armagh team named but you never know. How about a 2-point win, with Eddie Walsh making the scoring difference off the bench?!

That's as poor a Armagh team as is likely to be seen all year.
Serious opportunity to bank points early,

They probably have more experience on the pitch, half back line is their strenght. Never much in it between the teams. Rookie enough Monaghan team but we have to start pushing new players through and build a team with what we have. Watching mc manus on Laochra gael the other night, we had some serious players in that era. I do feel at present we are in transition massively and it will take time. Tomorrow will be tight and cagey, I'll go for a share of the spoils.

Madden won the co championship and they don't even have a player on the panel for the game. Not many counties can boast that stat

Realistically you can't see this game against Armagh going well. As division one teams go Monaghan have named a very poor one a lot of average players that don't even stand out at intermediate level never mind inter county. It will be a long season if better players don't return soon enough

In response to earlier comments the two Clones Proposals were laughable by Orielman.

Can you expand why ? Or is it logical to you to have two different ways of differentiating between teams on same points in league versus championship?

And Clones didn't propose any increase or decrease to divisions.

What was your own clubs contribution or yours Orielman ?

Agreed in fairness, it is far from a convincing panel heading into Div 1. You wouldn't even be convinced of winning out at Div 2 level. Even in the best years, Monaghan always relied on last day miracles to stay up so the task is huge this year. So its game by game to find 5 points.

Age old problem we have a pretty small pick of quality inter County players. When everyone is fit and available we are just about a div 1 side and can give anyone a game but missing the scotstown lads players injured travelling we are very average and would struggle to stay in div 2. Watched matches yesterday and the conditioning of teams div 1 & 2 even this early is impressive. We lack something physically in comparison . I dont think league will begin properly for us until Dublin game when lads hopefully return. Anything picked up in these first two games would be an unexpected bonus.
