This might be down to a lower standard of defending than what's in div 1, as a poster said, you could drive a bus through our defence v Westmeath and I'm sure it's the same for the rest of teams outside the top level…and on the other hand, we are still posting higher scores as well. I think the combination of changes are achieving their goal in the lower divisions, the games I've watched either live or on TV have been more open and entertaining. Meath are better than they were, not to be taken for granted Louth will be tougher than you expect and Down have zero fear of Monaghan. A long way to go to 8 points. Cork would naturally strike fear in any Monaghan fan. Our record is abysmal against the Rebels. Last win was in 2010 in Scotstown 3-13 to 3-12. Even Monaghan at their strongest under Malachy couldn't turn cork over. I see Darren Hughes named on the bench first tomorrow. Incredible that he's got himself back yet again, some effort. Conceding big scores was going to bite us eventually. A battling display away v a v good roscommon side who to be fair deserved it. Am actually glad it was 5 pts at the end rather than the one as we had the chances including missed penalty . Good battle today, 2 best teams in the division I would think. Some lovely footballers in Monaghan, Conor McCarthy was a serious threat all day. I feel we will see ye again in a few weeks. Agreed a good battle and well done Roscommon. Considering we had only 1 definite starter in attack, with 2 debutants, I thought we were a threat all game and defended well against a very experienced & talented Roscommon forward line. We will definitely have a much stronger panel by the end of this league. Promotion is not a priority. We seem to have a high number of players out at present and this so early in the season. It was an easier trip home compared to last year, despite the loss. A very young Monaghan team battled to the end, and while Ros were value for the win the performance from the lads was encouraging. Gavin McPhilips did well until he ran out of steam, McCarthy surged in the second half and looked like he could win it himself, Louis Kelly showed well at times too. McNulty had a great game I thought. Mooney looked tired, and the return from McCarron and Jones was disappointing. The team really missed McBennett, McAnespie and Hamill around the middle against the wind.
