Replying To BigSur:  "Update on 2025 senior managers based on this week's local newspaper articles:

St Loman's - P. Dowdall
The Downs - vacant
Coralstown Kinnegad - vacant
Tyrellspass - E. Kinsella
Moate - L. McNeill
Caulry - P. Flanagan
Mullingar Shamrocks - M. Burke
Killucan - C. Cleary
Athlone - E. Jordan
Garrycastle - G. Dolan
Tang - S. Foy
St Malachy's - T. Browne"
It is Stephen Coy that is over Tang, not Foy.

Great to see a local derby, Marist have come through a tough group with Athy and Knockbeg before playing Pat's, Moate have been impressive but opposition may not have been at the level of Athy etc, time will tell.

Marist line up appears to be backboned by the Tubberclair Minor team with Athlone and Garrycastles best added to the mix with some from Roscommon.

Moate would have a number of players playing in the U20 Final this weekend in addition to a number of players from Offaly.

Interesting to see how it pans out. I'd assume a number of these players will also feature for the county U20s this coming year. By all accounts there have been a number of trials already held.

Of all of those the only ones I've heard confirmed are Corcoran, Dermody, Sammon, Bracken and Martin. Kevin Hickey definitely gone from Shandonagh. They advertised the job on their social media pages a couple of weeks ago. Word I heard was Milltown were looking for a new manager. I don't know who Foley is at Castledaly.

A disappointing year for Moate ended well in Kinnegad tonight, won the under 20 championship beating Loman's after extra time. Loman's looked better balanced side but Moate had the best individuals, Toby, Darragh Lowry and Ronan Murray played key roles, might be a help to Moate in securing a senior manager.

Congratulations to the moate players in u20 final, they hung in for long periods when lomans were dominating. Lomans will be disappointed with just 1 point in 2nd half. Having played for 20mins with 14 players, they looked tired in extra time, players cramping all over pitch. Well done to the moate players in an entertaining game overall. Fully deserved the win in extra time.

Good analysis, it was surprising to see Loman's players struggling fitness wise as many of these players were on the senior squad training together until a fortnight ago. Moate full back was powerful and my man of the match.

Wasnt at the game but I guess Cian Whitney was Moate full back. He has been very good in games I saw him this year and captained Westmeath minors. Well done Moate, thats minor and u20 titles for this particular bunch.

Not sure about that. We tend to always play our sides down, Col Mhuire are rightly regarded as competition favourites, there's fine footballers in the school not even on the panel, incredible strength in depth, Sean Plunkett played for Loman's in the under 20 final last week, he's not a sub for the school, county minors from this year are subs on the squad, the school has a conveyor belt of talent at all ages, there was a first year ten a side blitz held recently with likes of Marist and Moate fielding 4 teams, Col Mhuire sent 7 teams.

About time Col Mhuire got there act together at senior level. Marist were in the final 3 times in the last 10 years (2014, 2016, 2018), Moate (2017), and Rochfortbridge were winners in 2020.

Schools football is the backbone to developing players. It's so important that schools football in doing well in Westmeath. Look at the likes of Derry and Tyrone who have developed so many successful inter county players, most have came through successful school teams.

Athy beat Marist in the group stage but I believe Marist were missing 2/3 players due to Irish Rugby duties. Marist should come out on top over Moate but it should be a close game.

Col Mhuire win by 5/6 points. Young Scahill a serious player

I would agree on Marys having seen them on a couple of occasions this year , very strong panel. A few lads have been saying its the best Schools team Westmeath have produced in a long time. Marist wouldnt be far off the mark , Athy beat Marist by 6 points in Athy but they came back to beat St Pats Navan. Overall the standards in our Schools are high compared to other counties, good work going on behind the scenes in Moate also.

Maybe playing it down a bit but i still think athy are a year or two ahead physically than cbs. The cbs school are getting it together last few years but they have the numbers. I always thought schools football was a great leveller of where u are, have seen lads outstanding underage for clubs and not get near a schools team. Maybe it's personality clashes in some situations or players concentrating on studies. Cbs are a good team. They are in the mix

Who are the big names on the CBS team, I'd know of Thornton and Scahill alright but outside of that I wouldn't be aware of too many more. Particularly if they are competition favorites.

Their forward line is very strong. The two you mentioned obviously , and also Heffernan, Meehan, Maloney are very talented. Spine of the team has some big men - Weir, Masterson, Conlon, Maguire. Ormsby has been injured and is huge man, but not sure if he will be back. Winter football it helps to have some heft in there.
