Replying To Lakecounty94:  "Any word on manager? You'd imagine that the plan is that they will look to appoint someone from within the county as the next manager. Appointing an outsider who likely wont get a chance to see barely any club championship live wouldn't bode well. Particularly in a year where we are going to be in transition. I'd like to see Keane given a chance and maybe promote Gavin from the 21's to work alongside him."
I'd be very surprised if it's not an insider or someone like Wall who is relatively familiar with the scene in Westmeath. A whole new team will need to be build. An exciting job for the right candidate. We all know about the retirements & lads travelling already. I expect there will be more players not available due to travelling and retirements. Won't be easy to stay in division 2!

Heard Eoin Jordan has declared interest in the Westmeath role. John Connellan, Gary Connaughton and Joe Fallon his selectors.

Fair mileage on that ticket with John Connellan commuting from Brisbane for training and matches!! Could Fergal Murray not replace Gary Connaughton and Dobsie Prendergast do the strength and conditioning work? Matt Scally as keeper coach and Amby Fogarty on stats??

Interesting. Good spread of lads from around the whole county there.

John Keane not interested in the job and unfortunately there is no one else up to the job within the county. Damien Gavin would be a great shout as the main selector on the ticket since he would have worked with every good player in the county from the age of 19-26 but I don't think he done enough in his time as u20 manager to be given the main gig.

Hardly realistic. Even if it was real you would need a better spread of selectors from across the County.

I would have thought the 6/7 years taking the 20's was enough

Would paschal kellaghan be in the running? Not sure he'd be the right man but could see Jack and the rest looking and believing in him if he wanted it. Has been in and around the set up. Lar wall to me seems best option but feel someone like paschal might be in the running inside the county.

Not sure if we will get one Mick or can afford one. As many have mentioned here, with retirements and travel, survival in Div 2 is going to be a huge ask for anyone. I don't think we are an attractive project for any aspiring manager right now and our only options will be an internal appointment or a journeyman. If we are rebuilding i think we would be foolish to throw money at the latter.

A few have mentioned Kelleghan. Do we really want our County Team playing football like Kinnegad do? I would go for Lar Wall.

Wonder if Lar Wall will end up as Meath manager now.

Under 20s were very poor this year, not sure is Damien even interested, he's heavily involved in the Bridge under age set up now.

Pretty certain Lar will not be the Meath manager, Andy Moran more interested in a coaching role than management after his last year with Leitrim.

Lar Wall the same man that brought Downs down last year ??
Didnt win a single championship match but he is the man to take us on.
Whats the fascination with him to be next manager ??

When did you ever see Westmeath playing beautiful free flowing football ha ha
There is nobody in the county up for the job.
John Heslin will make a good manager.

He's not posting here claims about Coralstown Kinnegad's likelihood to at least reach the semi final despite their championship record this year being slightly better than Caulry's. A number of posters have pointed out that you seem to be getting ahead of yourself, beat Kinnegad on weekend after next and then post with confidence"
Not getting ahead of myself, not afraid to post predictions or sit on the fence like the rest.
Good man I forgot you run this place
