Interesting few games coming up in the club championship, would like to see ballinacargy push on this year, same also for Miltownpass. Call me crazy but I can see tang causing an upset in a game in section A this year FarmerJohn (Westmeath) - Posts: 10 - 21/06/2024 12:46:06 2553383 Link 0 |
Ballynacargy push on? You obviously don't follow the league too closely. They've just completed their worst league campaign in years, think they lost every match. I'd say they are clear favourites to be relegated to junior. Pity as they're a great club with good facilities and an excellent committee. Fully agree, great work been done at underage with good numbers and a vibrant committee, adult team not stepping up this year. Have loads of ability but if they continue the way they going, favourites for relegation to junior

The only team Tang have a remote chance of beating is Athlone and even that's unlikely

The side that's impressed me most in recent weeks has been Milltown. Their two midfielders Jack and Dylan Murtagh are dominating teams, both worthy of county involvement, attacking wise Conor Dillon, Ben McGauran, Jack Duncan and Daire Hynes are a handful, they easily beat Ballymore in league recently, definitely my favourites for Intermediate championship Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 1972 - 22/06/2024 16:13:08 2553625 Link 0 |
Hardly a miltown supporter are you?

I agree with everything here you've hit the nail on the head John. I believe Balinacarrigy will be able to turn it around come championship and possibly go all the way. The only thing I say is that you said Tang will call an upset in a game where I think they could make hay in all of them. People would have called you crazy if you said they would win the group last year so don't be surprised if the same happens this year

Care to wager on those predictions Chopper??? Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 1972 - 23/06/2024 12:35:20 2553997 Link 0 |
3 teams in Westmeath group in the last 8 shows how unfair the group pre planning is. Connacht champions and Ulster running up always in the same group for TV is not right. Kew (Galway) - Posts: 119 - 23/06/2024 15:37:03 2554029 Link 0 |

Wonder what the price of a pint will be in 50 years' time?

It's an open draw. Less conspiracy nonsense

Westmeath lost 3 championship games; shouldn't be in a group.

Tang done brilliant to get out of the B last year. They wont be anywhere within an asses roar of winning Flanagan Im afraid. Anyway get league finals out of the way first. Lomans havent won league title in five years, full complement of players and they will always beat Kinnegad. Division 2 is between two teams that appear to be heading in very different directions. Killucan shouldnt be in Division 3 and anything less than a win for them will be a surprise. Dont know alot about Division 4 but Id imagine the Downs second are stronger than Kinnegad My predictions. Div 1- Lomans to beat Kinnegad by 6 Div 2- Caulry to beat Garrycastle by 5 Div 3 - Killucan to beat Lomans by 2 Div 4 - The Downs lakecounty90 (Westmeath) - Posts: 118 - 24/06/2024 14:42:56 2554429 Link 0 |
Div 1 final bound to be cagey affair between these sides, 12 points prob be enough to win it, Kinnegad haven't been affected by county side, Pa Giles wasn't a used sub for county this year, depends on Loman's county players hitting form, Danny McCartan back fit again might give Loman's the edge. Garrycastle had to win promotion to steady themselves after relegation last year, they've done that impressively, not sure about teams going in opposite directions, could easily be in same championship group next year, Caulry slight favourites but extra time might be needed, Killucan should account for Loman's in div 3 but likes of Fola, Conor Regan, Tristan Graham, Rory Matthews, David Morgan and Fionn O' Hara could make it hard for Killucan, Kinnegad and The Downs drew recently in Div 4 league so another close game likely Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 1972 - 24/06/2024 15:23:45 2554457 Link 0 |

Danny McCartan is flying in training according to Lomans lads in work and will start no doubt. Fola and Graham cant even get a look in the first team shows you the depth theyre building again. Fionn O Hara as you said back also Garrycastle did stop the rot with promotion to Division 1 however any team that suffers successive championship relegations is a team in decline. I dont think they have the balance of youth. and experience like Caulry have. Caulry have been knocking on the door, 2 senior Quarter Finals and a Semi Final in last three years contested. lakecounty90 (Westmeath) - Posts: 118 - 25/06/2024 17:05:21 2554822 Link 0 |
Div 1 final will be close but fancy Lomans by 2 pts Bruno@1 (Westmeath) - Posts: 220 - 25/06/2024 18:30:22 2554834 Link 0 |
Caulry at full strenght G/Castle minus Mark McCallion, Jack Donohoe injured Eoin Monaghan gone travelling for Summer Caulry should be winning this GCCABU (Westmeath) - Posts: 20 - 26/06/2024 16:15:58 2555001 Link 0 |
