Conor has been injured the last few weeks. Was only back training last week. Presume he was allowed to play with his club to get some game time into him.

Yes have to agree the bench did make their mark yesterday Nigel Harte stood out for me very strong running and was the creator of at least 3 frees

Nigel Harte at wing back and Luke Loughlin in the half forwards if fit should start against Limerick.

Would just like to question this. Nothing to do with the teams or players involved but the notion where 1 team is allowed to play a County player in a League game but others are not? I understand the concept of giving the player a game but its hardly fair if the opposing Club has County men who are not allowed to play.

Was there not a rule passed a number of years back that if a county squad player is not included in the match day panel of 26 then he be alowed play for his club that weekend
Makes sense as some players might not make the 26 for every senior game and also miss out on game time with their respective clubs.

It's not a case of one player or one team being allowed to play and another not. If you are not in the match day 26 you are allowed play, if you are in the match day 26 you're not allowed play.

That's fair enough. Thanks for clarifying.

Whats the consequences of playing? if in the 26 on the saturday and dont get a game and they tog out for there club the next day ???
Used to be a big problem where some lads werent getting any football, then coming back to there clubs and had no confidence and were off the pace, which was hard to believe because were training with the county.

There shouldn't be any consequences or notions of such. It's inherently wrong to prevent players from lining out for their clubs. Yes their load needs to be managed, especially around important matches, but players should be encouraged to play their club matches wherever possible and not the opposite.

If a player doesn't get game time at a match and he is on the 26 panel of course he should be allowed play with his club how are they to get games if they on d bench ridiculous if they not allowed

All of last year throughout league and championship Dessie allowed the lads who didn't play or only played a half play for their club. Only issue with this years league and bench players is that all of westmeaths matches are on Sunday so some players may miss out on club games as Dessie will want to keep them fit for the Sunday

Any update on injured players. We will need everyone for the down antrim sligo games. 6 points from remaining 4 games should be enough. Nigel harte should be in mix to start this weekend. Very good 20mins last week

I see on the predictions page a lot of people are saying Westmeath by 6 and 7 pts -some even saying by 10 and 12 pts!!!.Against Offaly we got outa jail a bit as Offaly kicked some awful wides late on-against Clare a questionable square ball saved us and against Wicklow a couple of great saves by Jason Daly hepled us tho we were best in a scrappy game.We should beat Limerick but we are not putting teams away and Silgo,Down and Antrim are tougher tests coming up.Confident for a good home win but hopefully we will put in a real dominant display-we definately have the players to do that.

Another similar display and another narrow victory, we're far from convincing but 8 points after 4 matches is hard to argue with. Ronan O' Toole was again sublime with four second half points from play, Kevin Maguire and Charlie Drumm excellent in defence and Kieran Martin's three points in 20 mins as a sub were huge scores, Nigel Harte started and will retain his place, Surprisingly no game time for Scahill or Whittaker. Three hardest games left with Sligo looking like toughest and most crucial match.

A win is a win but at times not very convincing but fair play to Limerick who kept coming at Westmeath and were right in this game right up to the final whistle.Once again I thought Ray Connellan had a huge game as had Maguire and O'Toole .How much of a tonic is Kieran Martin coming off the bench-he lifts the whole place and team and his 3 pts were top notch.8 pts on the board but the real business starts now-2 wins out of the next 3 games shud see us promoted and into Div.3 final-Well done management and squad on another positive result.

Didn't think they team played particularly well again. But it's another win without playing great which you'll always take; especially with a few lads to come back. Drumm is getting better every game. Harte played well also. Ray is really leading the team this year. Thought Smith showed very well when he came on and perhaps did enough to start next weekend. Martin was the difference in the end and of course Toole was outstanding again. A few lads got a deserved chance today and unfortunately they didn't take it. It looks like Baker is really lacking confidence and I feel he could benefit with having someone like Heslin or Luke beside him to bring him on. I'm looking forward to the trip up to Antrim next weekend!

A win and a draw might get us promoted but we are able to win all 3 matches if everyone is fit.The difference between playing All Ireland and division 2/3 football 1 is very tight for us.

3 big games ahead. We have not even left 3rd gear for many of these games we've played in already. We're either going to have a massive score coming or a complete blow-out or both.

On a positive - we've blooded some good new faces.
