Great to see the fixtures released for the first rounds of the All County League commencing Feb 23rd/24th/25th.
Clubs will also be happy that they received the full list of fixtures from Round 1 to Round 9.

Some interesting games kicking off the league.
Div 1
The Downs v St. Lomans
Div 2
Garrycastle beginning life in Div 2 with a trip to Tubberclair
Div 3
St. Josephs v Kilbeggan, St. Josephs first competitive game on their new pitch

Replying To jamsie:  "The Aughrim saying has been going around for decades. There is no basis for it. If you actually look at Wicklow's home results over any length of time , it's one of the easiest away fixtures there is."
It goes back to the Micko days, Wicklow held an unbeaten record at home in the championship. Gerry Buckleys column this week states that our most recent meeting in Aughrim was in 2003 on our way to the Division 2a title. We were lucky to beat London in the Bridge that year!

I'd say it goes well before Micko's days. Laois were National league champions in 1986, championship first round vs Wicklow in Aughrim saw home team shock Laois, think Laois had 3 sent off, Laois crowd began the bad publicity for referees in Wicklow by surrounding Carthage Buckley's dressing room afterwards.

Before any visit by Laois there was the incident of intercounty ref Johnny Price being locked in the boot of his car a week after being knocked out by a box. That was national news for months and led to lifetime bans. There will be nothing soft on Sunday and only an improved performance will get us two points.Iarmhi Abu

That incident with the late Johnnie received much publicity at the time. It was disgraceful and never should have happened. But, it has grown legs over the years. Johnnie was short in stature and was putting his gear into the boot of his car. I think he was crowded and fell backwards into the boot, the boot lid was slammed then. He was never knocked out. As I said, it never should have happened. I think that happened some years after the Laois debacle. Laois football was having a great year in 1986. They were expected to steamroll Wicklow out of their way. Laois just couldn't accept they were being outplayed and the rest is history. I think that one of our few footballing greats, Kevin O'Brien made his inter county debut that day at 16 yrs, before he had played senior for his club.

Great win away from home. Limerick in Cusack next weekend is another favourable fixture to keep the momentum going into what are possibly our three toughest games judging by the table this evening.

O'Byrne Cup long forgotten now. Some posters here should be fairly full with the humble pie by now. Well done on a good away result today. Home to Limerick next week is an important one to keep the momentum going. So far so good even though we really rode our luck against Clare a few weeks back. We're in control of our fate still which is all we could have hoped for.

Winning was the vital factor today in a dreadful game. We always looked in control with Sam McCartan especially good, good decision to start Kieran Martin, his strength ideal on a heavy pitch, took goal with aplomb, Wicklow missed a great goal opportunity in second half which would have made things interesting but good to see Kevin Maguire back and likes of Daniel Scahill get game time. Antrim game looking like crucial one.

Jason Daly made an excellent second half save and a win minus John Hes, Luke Loughlin and Kevin Maguire starting is significant, the younger McCartan Danny was also impressive in second half

Westmeath need to win division 3 to be able to play in All Ireland Series (obviously if we reach lenister final we qualify which we should be aiming for). With Clare being on the weak side of the Munster draw they are nearly guaranteed to be in All Ireland series that means there is only one place left up from graps and if Meath get relegated it means no team from division 3 can play in the all Ireland series as they won the TC last year or if Louth or Kildare get relegated but still reach a Leinster final it would also mean no division 3 team in All Ireland.

A great win yesterday despite not playing particularly well. Martin kept westmeath in the game in 1st half with a brilliant individual goal. Danny mcCartan had a great debut. Ray was outstanding again. If wicklow could have finished any of the goal chances they created, it might have been a tighter game. Westmeath are definitely looking at promotion, big games yet to come against those also looking to be promoted. I have only one concern, we are relying on all the established players to get us out of div 3. We could end up with alot of retirements next year, then your left with alot of the extended panel to step up to play against some of the top footballers in the country without having established themselves in westmeath. Alot of the current stars who owe westmeath nothing for the service to the county, started county careers in Lower divisions and got the experience before excelling in the higher divisions and in championship

Always good to win these type of games-a scrappy stop start affair.Ray Connellan and Sam McCartan both were very good again and the impact from the bench was again positive.Great to have Kevin Maguire back and his first action was a great block to break up a dangerous Wicklow attack and he will be needed big time for the big matches coming up.3 from 3 and an out of sorts Limerick coming ti Mullingar next sunday but bigger harder games are on the horizon.Good positive vibes from the players and supporters leaving Aughrim y/day so well done all.

Worrying that Wicklow created some clear cut goal chances by running through the middle
of our defence better teams would inflict damage

I know Jack smith is injured but is his brother Stephen gone off the panel? Hasn't been in the last 2 squads.

Stephen also injured.
Both were at the game In aughrim yesterday aswell as the injured loughlin.
We will get away without having these lads vs Limerick but after that we will definitely need Luke John hes and jack. Danny mcc is probably ahead of Stephen smith in terms of quality.
Also thought Nigel Harte was quite impressive off the bench yesterday Drew at least 3 Scorable frees from strong running
