Looks like this is not just a Dublin GAA issue.....

Former Kerry and Kilmacud Crokes goalkeeper, Devon Burns, is set to join Ratoath with the goal of getting into the Meath senior panel. Robbie Brennan, the Meath manager, has reportedly asked him to make the move, and it looks like a smart step towards a future in the county team.
With Ratoath's strong setup, this could be the perfect opportunity for Devon to earn a spot with Meath. Keep an eye on this he could be lining out for Meath soon!

Didn't Brennan bring him into Crokes halfway through last year and dropped long time keeper Ferris?

Apart from anything lese, what message does this send out to the other goalkeepers in Meath, never mind the two already on the panel! If it was me, I'd be jacking to be honest.

All this needs to be nipped in the bud, Barney..

It can snowball very quickly, and by the looks of it, we are getting to that stage....

They would been like Ger having Fenton or McCarthy signing up with a Louth club so that he could out them on country team!

Looks like there will be no return for 2 of the 3 Dublin legends next season.

Ger has had conversations with them all, and 2 wont be returning,

TBH I can't see the remaining guy, coming back either.

New manager - fresh start, and no one coming back to return to the squad.

Hopefully fresh idea's, and a few newbies can be unearthed...
We will need them.

Full-time: Kilcoo 0-16 Scotstown 0-19 AET

Wow, fair play to Scotstown who end a 36-year wait for a fifth Seamus McFerran Cup.

Hell of a performance.

This 2point rule is a massive game changer.
But that is some turnaround by the Monaghan men from the last time these 2 teams met.

Congrats Scotstown.

Looks like there will be plenty of kerry support in Cork for the semi final, with the All-Ireland Club IFC semi-final
An Ghaeltacht (Kerry) v Sallins now preceding the Dingle v Boden game.

Should be a great atmosphere.

Six point win in Carlow yesterday. Play Wexford down there on Thursday night in semi,

Surprisingly strong team out in Carlow. Some interesting positional experiments. Conor Burke in half backs and the other Conor in half forwards. I'd imagine they intend to field strong in the league rather than try out many new lads although there were a few mostly from the bench yesterday.

Another strong 26 named for the match against Wexford tomorrow evening. Ronan starting 14. No sign of Hedger yet. Be conditioning himself i suspect!

Been moved to Oulart pitch so plan to go up and down on airport bus ro original venue at Ferns shelved.

Good enough win given the conditions which Dublin coped with better.

In fairness Dublin lot closer to likely Summer panel than Wexford and regulars looked solid. As did some of new lads, 4 debutants i think but subs got confusing. Joe Flanagan had good night.

I reckon N Ó Ceallacháin is doing right thing in putting out strong teams every game. Are also learning lot from internal sessions i imagine.

Optimistic for year and promotion for a start.

Easy win over Westmeath. Looked well and lots of new debutants and just four regular starters.

Using the games very well. Galway next Saturday i assume as won't want to clash with Loughrea in Croke Park.

Primary targets for footballers in 2026 -
Stay in Div 1 and then hopefully win Leinster - achieving both would be a very good start for Ger Brennan.
I don't see Dublin winning another AIl Ireland this decade, 2020 and 2023 will have to do.
Hopefully GB can get a panel of players that are far more savvy and practiced at taking advantage of the new rules. This is a new era for Dublin football now. They are back in the pack and the glory days are in the past, time to build a competitive side in the new rules era, and hopefully 2026 can prove to be the start of future success.

Have Ballymun Kickhams not just poached and got the transfer of Longford player Keelin McGann? Keelin has played with the Longford senior team the last number of years and originally played his club with a small team who progressed from Junior to Intermediate to Senior and reverted all the way back in a few short years

Not sure us putting out fairly strong teams is the right thing to do all tbh.

Injury, burnout - surely the Walsh Cup should be used the same way our Footballers use the O'Byrne Cup.

Galway will be a great test in Parnell Park but these games will mean nothing come the Championship.
Personally I would have experimented now, and a mix in the League and then go all out for a Leinster Hurling title.

I take the O'Byrne and Walsh Cup results with a pinch of salt.

I agree with most of this.

We wont win another Sam in this decade.

On our priorities - for me, with the change of management and in order to try out new players, Leinster would be my target. Forget the league. If we go down we go down. Probably between 3 teams in a relegation battle, with us included.

I think Leinster will be a 2 horse race tbh - us and Meath.
Kildare have lost some big hitters to retirement, 4 excellent players gone. Louth will fall back now imo.
Although it was great to see them finally win Leinster last year, Meath were a better team but blew it on the day.

Winning a Leinster is probably easier to win that staying in Division 1, or getting Promoted from Division 2 in fact.
And if I was RB I would be going all out for that Leinster title also.
Looking at their fixtures, they have the big teams at Home but having these games in Croker and not Navan, they have lost whatever Home advantage they had. Away to Cork and Away to Cavan also.

Next years Division 2 will be easier than this years imo.

Ger has looked at about 150 newbies - I think we will be lucky if 3 see the Championship.
But this has to be a work in progress, and build for the future, and whatever level that brings us to....

For 2026 - Realistic expectations from the off.... anything else is a bonus. ;o)

Yeah it's certainly a different year this year and in a way its sad to know the glory days are over but it's also quite exciting to see what we can produce over the next few years.

Ger has a huge job on his hands to unearth a few new lads but he and us as fans will have to be extremely patient. We still have the nucleus of a decent team there but its another year mileage on the clock and a few definitely the wrong side of 30. It will also be very mentally challenging for the likes of Kilkenny, Con, Howard, Murchan, Byrne, Scully & Paddy Small to have achieved so much success in their careers early on but now being well and truly back in the chasing pack. The opposite of Cluxton's career in many ways.

I fear this will be the last year we will see some of those you named - especially CK.

All of a sudden a Leinster football title will be the height of our ambitions, but it is what it is.

Era's come to an end - and regarding our glory days, what is the saying - dont be sad it ends, but Happy It Happened.
;o)

Hopefully there is a good spread of winners in the coming years for All Ireland glory.
GAA needs that tbh, and so do the fans.
And at least we have 3 competitive Provincial football championships now, which is a good thing,

Hurling is very competitive again and it is great to see.
And I really hope the Dubs can win another Leinster Hurling title soon.

Yeah I hear ya - I'd imagine it'll be the swansong for Kilkenny, Costello and if injuries are again not kind to Murchan I would be doubtful how much more we will see of him going forward.

Should we hazard a guess at what the best 15 might be for GB this season assuming there will be no more than 2 or 3 "discovered" who will actually play a meaningful part. Anyone I've marked with a * I believe their starting team credentials are seriously under threat and those with * on the bench I'd question their inclusion in the squad at all. This is assuming players are in form and fit to play.

1. Comerford / O'Sullivan
2. Eoin Murchan
3. Theo Clancy*
4. David Byrne
5. Cian Murphy
6. Brian Howard
7. Lee Gannon
8. POCB
9. Killian McGinnis
10. Sean Bugler
11. Ciarán Kilkenny
12. Niall Scully*
13. Paddy Small
14. Cormac Costello*
15. Con O'Callaghan

Subs: Sean McMahon, Luke Breatnach, Tom Lahiff*, Ross McGarry, Collie Basquel. Greg McEneaney*, Alex Gavin*
