As always Dublin are gracious in victory and gracious in defeat. So many miles on the clock. Galway played Dublin in 2018 in a semi final. 11 of Dublin's starters in 2018 started today. Congrats to galway. Commiserations to Dublin. What a team. They've been phenomenal. Today was probably a bridge too far but the signs have been there all year tbf. This ridiculous format certainly did you no favours. Think Jack should have been left on a bit longer and the same with mannion. Biggest loss tho was gannon. Great memories nevertheless. Hard luck to the dubs yesterday, what a team they have been to watch and admire the last 10+ years, will miss watching clucko in the goals as I'm sure he will call it a day. Hopefully we can improve over the next 2 years and start having those great battles again we shared in the late 80,s , the 90's , will we ever forget 91, and the noughties. Good tough football and shook hands and went home after. I will always have great respect for the dubs especially the club supporter. Congratulations to Galway I honestly thought Dublin would have enough to get to a final this year but I didn't fancy them to win back to back No excuses, they put an awful lot into last year Incredible that they got the lads over the line for #9 Watching James lift Sam as captain with his 9th medal secured Unique. Historic. Burnt into memory. Hard luck Dublin, that game could have gone either way, a relief for us it didn't go to extra time. The game yesterday was played in a sporting manner, great skill, courage and commitment on both sides and to an extent brought some closure for those us from Galway who were at the 1983 final. A deserved win for Galway… the Dublin forward line apart from Kilkenny were poor.. Mannion was poor and the miss from O Callaghan at the end in front of the goals was unforgivable.. Fenton had one of his poorest performances and it's a game and season too far for McCarthy…. The inevitable talk after what looks like an epoch-ending defeat will be the retirements to follow. Looking past the obvious cases, will there be some more surprising ones? Fenton, Mannion, McCaffrey, John Small in particular, they will all be pushing 32-33 next year. There is a good chance 2 or 3 of these will join the list of greats who call it a day.
