Replying To Joxer:  "Well I've always made that argument myself. Are Mayo, Kerry, Tyrone players not much more familiar with Croke Park environs than most other IC players from other counties? How many times have Cillian O'Connor, Aidan O'Shea, Stephen O'Brien, Tom O'Sullivan, Clifford…played in Croke Park. It's a home away from home. If you're a Leinster team and any good then you could have played in Croke Park

1 for a league game against Dublin
1 NFL semi final
1 NFL final
1 LSFC semi
1 LSFC final

It's extreme but a decent Leinster team could played 5 times at CP by the end of the Provincials. I get Ryan's point, if Dublin have 3 home league games in Croker per year then they'll have played there 3 times more than most teams and twice more than some others in their division come the championship. It's probably not quite the same as Liverpool playing all of their cup games at Anfield having played 20 league games there but there is something to Ryan's point."
Some poor lad tried to make that point over on the Kildare GAA forum website and it looks like he's after getting banned.

Kildare play less matches than the Dubs in Croke Park but they still play plenty so it's not like it's a true "away" venue for them. More games should be held in other county grounds and Parnell, because Dublin do clearly benefit from playing almost everything in Croker, but's it's been blown way out of proportion by some begrudgers.

kerry folk have now started a NEW thread about it....

Not a word about it for the past 2 years but clearly we are in the heads of some, once again this year.....

Wonder does it have anything to do with the return of Paul, Jack and Stephen... I wouldnt bet against it

I am sure Dubs playing of games in Croke Park thread will no doubt soon descend into use of particular dressing rooms, funding, population, and even Hill 16 etc. And maybe even the Covid training breach will be brought up again...

;o)

If the Dubs win the All-Ireland this year we'll never hear the end of it

Great to hear that Kevin Nolan is still enjoying his football and in far better health now.

He had a lot taken from him but thankfully he had achieved an awful lot before his health issues.

Dublin legend and we owe him plenty.

Not sure who will step in after AIG are gone, and similarly when JC retires, but for me personally, I would sell PP and build a 25-35k stadium for Dublin. Whether we leave our 2 development sites for 2x Centre of Excellence or use one for a Stadium, I really dont mind. But the sooner we stop using CP for League and Home championship games the better.

I know it wont stop the moaning that has reared up its ugly head again this year, for some reason, but clearly it is time for us to do it, or at least get a plan in place to commence a feasibility study on it and a proposed site.

When we are playing rubbish, folk dont seem to give an iota about it but once we look like we are back on track again. the usual suspects come out of the woodwork on here. Some in a different guise it must be said... ;o)

But that aside, I honestly feel strongly that we should have our own fit for purpose stadium. PP clearly is not.

25k stadium costed for Spawell - €45m to build , on top of the €9m+ it cost to buy the site. County board correctly decided it was not the best use of funds

Not sure 25k stadium would be enough for a lot of games - dont forget we will have to play there in our HOME round robin games also.

How much would PP fetch - no point in holding onto it when we need a Stadium.

PP was valued at €50mill in 2007

So selling it now could well cover the cost of a new stadium.
It still looks like we will be developing 2x Centre of Excellence - Hollystown and Spawell.
But any excess from the sale of PP, after a new stadium build, could be put into getting one of the COE getting started.

Well said Jimbo and Kevin Nolan in a good place now. A vital cog in your 2011 winning team. Comes across as a sound lad.

I see Murchan is not named in 26. Is he injured or gone for good? Likewise Mick Fitz although this be his last year anyway afaik.

Lots of Louth people about and lazier Dubs ought to be motivated after the close call and the novelty. Should be 40k maybe more today.

Not a bad save from a distraction, 42 year old blah blah

Another clean sheet

Isn't it terrible having him back

Dessie said after the game that both will be back very soon. Mick was studying and Murch recovering from a knock. Evan also on the way back.
Squad is stronger than it has been for a couple years and interesting Dessie saying that 22 new faces have been introduced into the squad in past 2 years.
Hard work starts now though.....

Outside of Kildare there is no competition. Kildare showed they learnt from last years mauling and nearly caught us.
They have just won the U20 All-Ireland.
Maybe they'll catch us someday soon.

Had Dublin won that by 40 points it would not have been an unfair reflection.

Need to be more ruthless when meeting the good teams.

That was an incredible save tbf. Would have been a great goal had it gone in too.

Kildare defo looking the most likely, they will fancy themselves to catch us out in a couple of weeks I reckon.

Kikdare were very well prepared against an unmotivated Dublin side, listening to Paul Flynn last night and he's talking sense, there's no buzz from winning these Leinster's unless you're a new player..

Do you still get solid gold medals for winning Leinster titles

With the gold price these days, the Dubs must have a nice few quid in their sock drawer

We won a hell of a lot of our own kicked ball yesterday, that's what he brings his kickouts are so good.

Easily one of his best, top class save.

Eamon Fitmaurice to his credit made sure to highlight it in his commentary, he just sort of laughed in appreciation, almost a "this fecker is still at it' acknowledgement..

Don't think we'll see many better this year across the championship
