It's not a massive upset but in the context of things it's huge for Plunkett's. They were very big and physical, which led to a lot of frees against but they gained more than they gave away from it. They went into their shell in the second half and it could have cost them but their defence was outstanding. Great to have a championship where at least 4 teams think they can win it. Hard luck to Na Piarsaig who fought back in the second half.

Na Piarsaigh had the likes of Davy Williams, Darragh Smith, Ryan Williams, Conor Heffernan, Alex Little, Kylan Heffernan, reigning champions and beat Plunketts by 18 points in group stages, Plunketts minus their best forward Eoin Meehan, the reaction of the Na Piarsaigh supporters during the closing stages and afterwards suggests it was nowhere on the cards, Plunketts had far greater hunger and desire, complacency was a factor in the Na Piarsaigh set up, resulting in a massive upset.

A brilliant win for Mullingar hurling which must make Plunketts firm favourites for 2025 senior B.We can argue all day whether it was a big surprise but the reality is Oliver Plunketts beat Clann Na Gael in the semi final and Na Piarsagh in the final both by a point.Clann had finished 1st in the league section and the LLG/Turin outfit 2nd which adds to their achievement.
