If O'Neill is listened to and his ideas and plans get auctioned then it'll be to Galway and PJs immense benefit. The old PJ was proud of saying it's his show or the highway but I think he may have been humbled a bit by recent failures and should now be old enough and wise enough to learn from O'Neill (and he from PJ too). Collaboration and collective smarts and experience rather than pig headed stubbornness are the only way to go forward. It's do or die now. So do! togoutlads (Galway) - Posts: 1042 - 21/10/2021 08:59:23 2386561 Link 0 |
PJ .. humbled .. I wouldn't think so

Rochford but if O'Neill had been announced as new manager I'd have been happy PJ has proven he isn't able. Players aren't happy but CB have ignored that. I think the appointment of O Neill is to shut us up and say sure look we are making changes but the same man is in charge Monaghan game last 10 mins of ordinary time show what this man knows about management. Sideline decisions lost that game galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1704 - 21/10/2021 11:54:11 2386603 Link 0 |
I see where Galway chairman has come out against proposal B in football championship even though the management and players in Galway are in favour I think Galway Woukd be one of the counties it would benefit,, I bet if it was a hurling proposal that gave hurlers more matches he be all for it not a word out of him last 2 years when it was straight knockout in football,, time to get football people over football ,, Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 1052 - 21/10/2021 12:38:09 2386620 Link 2 |
Would 100% agree with you here. Kill football at all costs. Up to the footballers / football clubs to get behind one man when the next election comes about and get a football chairman in.

I saw that. Can't understand his point at all. He brings up club fixtures, but I thought this would bring a certain level of certainty to the fixture calendar. I would love to see Provincial Champions get a wildcard to knockout stages if not already qualified as part of Proposal B and maybe put Team 6 in Div 1 into pre lim knockout. Even as it is it is better than knockout with qualifiers. Any issue with Prop B also exist there in some shape. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1918 - 21/10/2021 14:36:56 2386654 Link 0 |
Plans get actioned even (not auctioned!)

I agree kickitout. Big hurling bias in County board and galway media. No one holding the board to account on the promotion of football. At the announcement of Henry Sheflin (which I welcome as I am absolutely not anti hurling) last night they referenced the appointment of a development manager. This follows on from the appointment of full time S&C to work with all hurling grades. Not a mention of any of this infrastructure in football. They are happy to tick the boxes.

Pat Kearney referenced he will not be voting for it. On what basis? Is this the will of clubs? I honestly don't know but his argument about galway being a dual county in a time when we have a split season makes absolutely no sense. This proposal is not perfect by any means but its a hell of a lot better than what we currently have. Nogoal (Galway) - Posts: 62 - 22/10/2021 13:53:19 2386823 Link 1 |
Its easy to blame the Hurling, and their maybe a small amount of truth in it, but the reality is that the footballers don't have the same number of people committed to promoting Galway Football as the hurlers do.
