Replying To sponger:  "I should really be conditioned to failure and disappointment at my age, but I found last night's result hit me really hard.

I mean if we had won we would nearly be promoted. You would think, lets start really fast. Instead what happens ? No score for the first 12 minutes and then fall so far behind.

That makes no sense at ANY level of gaelic football.

Although as somebody said above, if we went up to division 3 we would just come straight back down."
A win draw or a loss last night didn't change the fact that since last weekends results if we beat tipp and Longford we're up and if we don't we're not. Absolutely not saying they weren't trying their best but that's just the way the permations fell.

Replying To FearThoir:  "Sorry lads but you might need to brush up on the maths. Before a ball was kicked this weekend the simple equation was that if Wicklow won their last two games they are promoted, full stop. That's no excuse for the defeat last night and a win there could have gave us a slight safety net in the event of a slip up in one of the last 2 games, so I'm sure that's the best we had to offer. Antrim would need a pile of results to go their way to even possibly enter the equation. So hopefully we can get our act together for the two massive games coming up."
New players coming to squad after junior hurling game next week which is being played to help this but some players have left and more will. Manager on his last legs also.

Playing junior hurling match to make players legal is a joke, no wonder players playing in Wicklow year in year out don't want to join panel. These new players will be gone back to their own county next year as happened before. When your goalie is your top scorer not much point being promoted.

Not great news. How has junior hurling anything to do with it. I'm presuming you mean Oisin on last legs. I fail to see how he can keep justifying the collapse on form over last year

Replying To Onion Breath:  "Not quite full stop accurate there.

It's possible CW WW and LM could all end up on 10 points meaning a three way tie for the top for the two promotion places which would then be decided on scoring difference. So WW could end up on 10 by winning their last two and still not be promoted."
Technically possible but probably a 1000/1 shot.

Looking at today's results, that job just got tougher. Longford and Tipp in top form. .

Carlow defeat today opens it up. There are now 2 promotion spots now up for grabs. Win the last 2 matches and D3 football next season will be achieved

New players coming to football squad after a junior hurling match this week??? - is this actually true?, it's 1st March not 1st April.
If this is being done then who are these new players and what does it say to the current panel, don't see any benefits to this

Antrim aren't as strong as they were in the past; if a team wants to be promoted then this is the type of game they must win. Once again the team began poorly and left themselves a mountain to climb. This team has spirit and they did fight back but we lack quality plus today's results didn't go our way either. I hope the team can win their next two games but I can't see us beating both Longford and Tipperary who are improving as the campaign gathers pace. We've beaten three of the bottom four teams in this campaign. The team/squad is performing inconsistently with no player putting their hand up for a guaranteed spot in the team with the exception of Mark Jackson who is clearly number one. The squad for the league campaign will be the squad for the championship. Long gone are the days where a club player can be parachuted into an intercounty squad without ever playing at that level.

Have to agree with above. Neither Longford or Tipp will be easy. Tipp in particular, are as you say, improving game on game. This is what I thought we would do, but last night undid all that. It's possible that Dean needs a breather. If he doesn't perform, we don't perform and none of the rest of the panel are putting their hands up to lead the line. It looked, up to last weeks injury that JP might begin to show his long promised potential, but a hamstring seems to have halted that. We can still go up, but it will be some mountain to climb. Carlow had a minor blip today but I would expect them to put that right.
