First game on Sunday was a fairly drab affair. Seen joes doing their warm up and it looked as though they would be struggling to field a team at all. Whereas Eire Og had a huge squad and seemed very prepared for it. The game however was completely the other way around. In truth the two goals kept some respectability to the scoreline which couldve been a lot worse for eire og had joes had their shooting boots on. Now as for the big one, dont think anyone seen that coming did they? Game of two halves is an expression often thrown around but this really was a game of two halves! Even with 20 minutes left Macs were still up by 8, they must be kicking themselves that yet again they seem to have left an all britain title behind them. Perhaps a change of management is needed? The quality is there for all to see. Fair play to Brendans, a lot of other teams wouldve thrown the towel in well before half time, in a dreadful start for them i think even after 20 mins or so they were 7/8 points down and although showed some ability, never showed anything near to the quality that got them over the line in the end. Will be interesting to see how they fare against the ulster champions in January, would love to see them win and give British football a massive boost, its surely only a matter of time before another team emulates the great John Mitchells teams from many years ago MyOpinion1991 (UK) - Posts: 25 - 10/11/2021 15:53:56 2389041 Link

Hopefully the Covid situation doesn't disrupt the London panels too much. Not sure how the preparation is going, but did hear the footballers were struggling to convince top players to commit to it this year. I'm not surprised if that is the case. Waterford refused to play in Antrim last year so it's difficult to see teams willing to travel to London for league games in the next 6 to 8 weeks. There is obviously tests etc required to travel into Ireland and I predict if London want to fulfil their league fixtures they'll likely all have to be played in Ireland; a big committment week after week. The Waterford situation last year was strange but likely gives an insight into the thoughts of teams travelling over to London so that may be a reason why players are reluctant to play with London at the minute. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 22/12/2021 11:26:44 2393471 Link

Agree it will be very difficult after such a long gap. Could London look to be involved in the FBD league in Connacht moving forward? Post 17 is an issue in London. Would an Under 20 competition help raise the standard, with amalgamations of clubs with fewer numbers? Participation in the early-season subsidiary competition will set the Exiles back somewhere in the region of £16,000 but manager Paul Coggins was determined to push on regardless and his wishes were unanimously backed at Monday night's County Board meeting. Connacht Council has arranged for London to play their games in such a way that they will only have to come over to Ireland twice - playing two games in Sligo one weekend and two games in Galway another weekend.' Found this online from 2012 alright. This was when all the universities were still involved so more costly than it would be now. 2013 was the year London got to a connacht final so it must have had a positive impact. Cant understand why they wouldnt push for this again. I would think its much the same as 2020 panel, not too many new footballers in town. Cahir Healy id imagine would be out with them that would be a new addition.
