Pat Spillane has made his debut for Sligo. Played a challenge last weekend. Great to welcome him on board. He has gone to great lengths to play for us. Others with inflated egos who haven't committed could learn from his attitude

no, but maybe a tenner

Good win for Summerhill today in first round of senior championship. Attractas have Claregalway next who won junior A 2 years ago so that will be a tough game for Attractas. Summerhill have Colman's (Claremorris) who are never bad at schools level.
Red Og and Gaughan both playing extremely well for their colleges. Middle third of pitch seems to suit Red og better and i don't understand how gaughan didn't get more of a chance under McEntee last year even though he was injured in periods.
Both lads would be a great addition to the set up if we could get them back in this year or next. People will complain about them leaving the panel earlier but in fairness they're playing better now than they were while in the panel.

They will be back on the panel when there is a change in manager

I think our current manager is not up to it. Talks a lot of rubbish and doesn't come across well at all.
I don't know how he got through interview with CB. Don't have much hope for the short term but will live in hope

How many managers in a row is that we have had that "isn't up to it" The current man has All Ireland medals as a player for club and county plus manager of Cross. Think it's time for players and supporter's to have a look in the mirror

have to agree with you about the players fronting up but he does come across a bit dull for my liking. Doesn't seem to believe in what he has got to manage. Stinks of punching time to me. I do hope he isn't getting serious bucks for this. I really do hope he does well but struggling to warm to him.

How are we set up heading into the league this weekend? Any inside word on how the team is going? Taking Wexford away is a big ask but if we want to get out of the division we can't come back with nothing I would think.

Challenge games haven't gone well over the last 2 weeks according to The Sligo Way Podcast.

It is very hard to see us getting a positive result in Wexford which sets the tone for the year ahead. A major goal for the season has to be winning in Gaelic Park and not becoming the first team to be bet by NY which is a distinct possibility with the squad being in such a low ebb due to this management style.

We are in Year 4 (Jim McGuinness often spoke about the 4 year Olympic Cycle to improve a team fully) with Joe Keane involved as Head Coach and the signs of improvement are minimal. Our defensive system is non existent after this length.

Let's be honest Keane went and got McEntee to get involved as he didn't want to be front of house.

I think we will win. Don't pass much heed of challenge games, although the game against Clare was O.K. I still don't think we will get promoted. Cavan or Tipp will go up but not both so the other spot is up for grabs

Delighted with the win today. Really pissed off with all the negative posts on here about our team and management. We are not a great team but cheap shots and throwing in missiles isn't the way to go. I have no prob with constructive criticism. Carlow next will be tough. They will be gunning for points after losing to London and we always struggle against them.

A surprise result on the road but great to get it all the same. Given the way results went for Tipp and Carlow, there is a real chance at promotion now. But lets just keep it one game at a time. Weekend 1 of league has shown that anything can happen to anyone!

Up Sligo. Top performance today. Carlow weren't great but defensively we were disciplined and well tuned in and our shooting was top quality I think one or two wides only. Everybody played well nothing to complain about.

very impressive. All 5 Connacht teams won today, doesnt happen very often and would have been a nice accumulator

Whow Sligo's score kept the scoreboard busy.
That a score just over every 2 mins.
Having been studying the Div 4 after 2 games.
This table I am predicting takes account of matches played and quality of opposition played.

Here goes
CAVAN
LEITRIM ******
SLIGO ******
TIPPERARY
WEXFORD
LONDON
WATERFORD
CARLOW.

*********DENOTES***********
SLIGO OR LEITRIM

GAME IN THE FINAL ROUND
SLIGO V LEITRIM.
I THINK THE WINNER TAKES 2ND PLACE IN THE LEAGUE.

ANYONE CONCUR WITH ME??

Far too early to call yet. Sligo will pick up wins against London and Waterford as will Leitrim. So could come down to can Sligo beat Tipp away and Leitrim Wexford at home. Hard to see Cavan dropping points tbh.

Load of bull. 2 games played out of 7. There is no outstanding team in the division, if there was they wouldn't be in Div 4. Waterford beat us at home not too long ago and I think that was after we had gone to Wicklow and won there. Cavan won't win all their games. London's tail's are up with 2 good wins. I wouldn't dream of predicting the final table after approx 30% of the games are played. We are doing well. The 28 points will be useful for a score difference but in all honesy Carlow were probably the weakest team ever to come to Markievicz Park. I'm not trying to be disrespectful to Carlow cos we were often whipped in similar fashion. When we play Cavan at home and Tipp away then we will see how we are doing. Having said all that I am impressed with the way the team is lining out, their physical presence and Spillane is a huge addition

Do we think we'll beat Cavan?. I'm optimistic going into it. Should show us where we're at. I think we've the physicality and size to match them. We've defended well so far this year which has been a weak point for us before. We're good going forward. Overall think we've a strong chance of coming out of Markievicz with 2 more points.
