Replying To eoinog: "Some very good posts about venue's and streaming. Games have been successfully streamed from Tubbercurry, Keash, Kent Park, Enniscrone, and Bunninadden. I think it's the location of games that irk people rather than the streaming. Don't forget that the sponsor of the streaming is also very involved with a particular pitch. Thankfully Sundays games saved the weekend. I posted about Tubbercurrys performance and their status as the club's leading the senior championship leaderboard. Not surprised that it didn't get posted. Coolera drawing with Easkey was definitely the result of the weekend but I was also glad that Pats finally got points on the board. A straight red for Fola means he will miss the game against Molaise but they have a hefty point difference on Easkey if it comes to a head to head. I went to the Harp's/Tourlestrane game and Tourlestrane were full value for their win. They threw away the shackles that served them so well winning all those Co titles and played a much more open game. They missed a lot but as Johnny Kelly said afterwards that would annoy them in the past but with the new rules they just went at it again. What were Harp's thinking with the ultra conservative approach. They played a brand of football that is now obsolete and consigned to the dust bin. They play Mary's in the last game with the winner taking a quarter final spot. Ballymote came back well to beat Castleconnor but Curry are straight into the semis. They are assured of a quarter final with the winners of Geevagh/Castleconnor taking the other place. Great to see Carrabine back playing. The Bunnies are in the semis but it's very hard to call the other 2 teams after that."
I see Fola's discipline hasn't gotten any better in Sligo!! He's fond of a red card.
Replying To muscles: "Will be interesting to see how many people travel to C/S against Molaise in Castleconor. I dont think there is a pitch further away for both clubs that they could have selected, Something has to be done with the CCC and these pitch selections, it ruins what would have been a great local derby in Scarden or Kent Park. They should just move to 2 home games and 2 away games if the CCC are incapable of doing their job and will encourage more clubs to bring their facilities up to scratch so all pitches are available for championship games. I make it that the furthest distance 2 pitches are apart in the county is roughly 68km, so teams who are averaging 40km+ across 4 games is really insane and takes away the notion of selecting neutral venues.
For the group stages, distances teams will have to travel for group games
Some change to the Sligo management team announced. Probably needed to change something after the last years inconsistent season. Appears to be a demotion for O'Hara with Sloyan the man in charge. A change in head coach and a performance coach added. Hopefully these changes can improve performance and reduce the injury count from the last few seasons.
Dessie is now the manager with Eamonn as the assistant with Joe MC Mahon taking the place of O Meara. Quinn from Longford comes in also in some minor role. Is it enough to get the wheels back on the wagon again. I wonder what our injuries are like. Canice, Shane Deignan, MC Guinness, O Connor, Rossa, Mullen, have all played very little since the Tailteann exit.
