Blues v Marys and Jocks v Mochs. The big 4 are last standing. Two great semi final line ups. Its squeaky bum time. Marys v Jocks final for me. Ollie2 (Louth) - Posts: 911 - 24/09/2024 06:47:17 2571546 Link 0 |
It always looked like these 4 in the semi's. Hard to call the finalists. Shearer (Louth) - Posts: 885 - 24/09/2024 13:02:38 2571607 Link 0 |
Great finish ok. I'll go for a Mary's v Mochs final with Joe Ward going to Louth village for the first time and Decko getting a deserved senior championship medal. That would be a powerful finish to a great year for Louth football.

It would be good to see a new name on Joe Ward. But it's gonna be a tough task for the Mochs to beat the Jocks twice in one Championship campaign considering the Mochs just got over the line against them in the group stage. If its a Jocks v Marys final would it be the first Senior final that both teams that reached the final have lost a match each? Jocks lost to the Mochs and the Marys lost to the Blues in the Group stage.

Declan Byrne has got a 2 match ban for his red Monday night and the mochs manager a 4 week ban

Dundalk Gaels V Hunterstown Rovers Shearer (Louth) - Posts: 885 - 30/09/2024 10:27:07 2572482 Link 0 |
Going by reports Ryan Burns broke ribs yesterday so won't be playing in the final I'd still make Hunterstown favourites but him not playing is a massive boost for Gaels DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 916 - 30/09/2024 16:00:49 2572580 Link 1 |
The last team to do the double were the Gers in 2013. Burns is gonna be a huge loss for them in the final. What about the Tones? It's remarkable that they were in big trouble 12 years ago. They are playing Junior football since the 1970s. They reached their first Junior semi final in 2022 in 29 years. This is the third year in a row that they are in the semi finals. Can they make it third time lucky and reach their first Championship final since 1937? Special mention to the Mitchell's as well who knocked out one of the favourites the Plunketts.

Yea the Tones have been decent in the JFC this last few seasons. Could they knock the favourites O'Connells out? Shearer (Louth) - Posts: 885 - 01/10/2024 13:49:27 2572693 Link 0 |
2014 there was a meeting held by the Tones in relation to their Adult participation. They had just conceded a number of games in the league due to a lack of players. Tremendous work was done by Martin Smith to rally players for 2 years until young players came through. A lot of them players are now pushing the club on. It's great to witness. O'Connells be a tough test.

The Tones are the most successful club in Drawda after the Blues with 6 Senior Championships and at one stage were the most successful club in Louth. I would love to see them in the Junior final. But it's gonna be a tough one to beat the O Connells. Best of luck to the them.

A great club Wolfe Tones. All the Drogheda clubs are a credit. Could be a tighter than expected game this. O'Connells are the team to beat but haven't been tested yet and have only played 3B opposition Shearer (Louth) - Posts: 885 - 08/10/2024 12:59:14 2573652 Link 0 |
are there many clubs in louth that dont have names and go by just their town/ village or townland or is it because of lots of amalgamations? like in meath most clubs are just Kilmessan, Nobber , Trim etc with no rovers, rangers etc on to them. any reason for this? like why do cloughhead not just call themselves cloughhead? why dreadnoughts? dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 767 - 08/10/2024 23:15:33 2573800 Link 0 |
Decky who was injured and not playing and had no business being on the pitch at full time when he was sent off, has coat his club a spot in the senior final A sore one for him as with him on the pitch Sunday, they would have won that game DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 916 - 09/10/2024 14:30:30 2573893 Link 0 |
Never thought of that before. Even the newest club from Carlingford who are around 15/20 years are called Cuhullian Gaels

All the Drogheda clubs who keep competing and providing football for young people despite the fact that the Blues have been plundering their best players for decades are a credit.
