Good luck Louth. Ardee is awash with Red and White this weekend - mid-Louth and Cooley are the spiritual homes of Louth football. Can it happen???? Eddie the Exile (Monaghan) - Posts: 1121 - 14/05/2023 13:42:34 2478313 Link 0 |

I suppose the Kildare game raised some doubts about Dublin but Louth have been far too open today.

Louth playing without a proper established goal keeper is crazy stuff. Converted outfield players put in goals at inter county level or any level is asking for trouble.. cuttothebone (Kildare) - Posts: 164 - 14/05/2023 15:25:51 2478345 Link 2 |
Same in Armagh/Derry match, Rafferty's an outfield player playing in goals, whereas Cluxton, Morgan and Beggan are goalies first but who are comfortable on the ball.

Louth wouldn't have the same quality of player as Kildare. Today shows the gulf that exists in Leinster between Dublin and the rest. Kildare are probably the only county with a real chance of bridging that gap

Yawn. What an immature and childish comment.

Oh. What we are all waiting for is the rematch, You can have it in Glen's back garden. Hard luck to Louth. Unlike the flourbags they are on an upward curve. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 14/05/2023 23:38:54 2478536 Link 4 |
Bring it on!!! Can't wait. I'm sure Louth people don't need any of your condescetion and "sympathy"..... 3 All-Irelands in 5 years for Kildare teams... Yeah we really are on a downward curve...

Not going to pretend to be an expert or criticise but based on stats we obviously had an issue with winning or retaining our own kick outs. It didn't take an expert to see that. Benjani (Louth) - Posts: 48 - 15/05/2023 10:43:08 2478606 Link 1 |
You were the one slagging them and claiming that Kildare are somehow better, You will be on the end of a similar tanking in a few weeks time. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 15/05/2023 10:48:24 2478609 Link 3 |
I agree with everything Benjani says. Setanta11 (Louth) - Posts: 45 - 15/05/2023 11:10:40 2478623 Link 0 |
There are many disappointed Louth fans this morning that the Utopia yearned for in the passionate "Lá Lú" post did not come to pass on Sunday evening. This should not overshadow the magnificent year that we have had and the glorious days that we have enjoyed with this team. Their disappointment must be enormous as well after such a big beating. I have seen all 3 Louth championship matches and realistically Louth have not improved, Westmeath collapsed in the second half in Navan and let Louth take control of a game they had won, the Offaly match was 50/50, Offaly are a very average side and Louth got it really hard to beat them, indeed Offaly had a great chance at the death to win that one, then to loose by 21 points to Dublin was a major reality check. Louth are miles off, they have an ultra defensive game plan and work hard at it, their commitment cannot be faulted, but they are no where near the top table of Gaelic football. if Mulroy got injured again they have very few other top quality players. dec (None) - Posts: 287 - 15/05/2023 12:15:35 2478655 Link 4 |
Dublin & Kerry on their good days are miles clear of everyone else bar a few like Galway,Derry,Mayo,Tyrone when they have their best days. OpenStand (Limerick) - Posts: 717 - 15/05/2023 12:41:12 2478658 Link 0 |
They're certainly favourites, but either of them can be beaten by the likes of the other teams you have mentioned. Tyrone showed in 2021 what an even less-fancied team can achieve.

Agree with that. Bar Mulroy, Downey, Sharkey must of of the Louth squad are at Tailteann cup level. The standard of defending was atrocious, and the kick out strategy would be something you'd see at Junior B club level. Dublin could of had about 10 goals yesterday but I think they took a few points instead at the end. I still think if Louth regroup they can give Cork a right rattle at home because the Kerry and Mayo games could be more hammerings.
