Replying To No_ID:  "Great to see this competition returning and even better to see it is rolling out on the hurling side too.
I thought last year was very well run and a huge success.
Does anyone know why the U15 Colts team are not entered this year. I know they played last season.
Similarly, if hurling at u15 will the Colts u14 team be included?

I think it's a great opportunity for younger colts teams to play in these competitions and get extra games together as a panel."
I'm also a big fan of the underage regional competitions. Last year would certainly benefit those who've competed in it. I'm not sure if a colts team are involved in the u16 football this year but I know Last years u14 colts won't be involved in the u15 hurling competition. Not sure the reason for this. Assuming football will be the same but can't confirm it.

Replying To Collio:  "Also Carlow hurling clubs have won 1 in game in Leinster in the last 5 years and footballers have won 2. So not sure why you think either are of a higher standard than the other."
Haha. You do realize a) unlike football, second tier counties don't play in the senior club hurling. If Carlow teams played Wicklow, Meath or Louth sides it would be another story and b) the hurling champions have been playing after not having had a game for three months!!

It's apples and oranges.

The football champions had wins over Tier 2 teams from Wicklow and Laois. St Mullins beat Wexford (Tier 1).

Flip it next year - let hurling go second and see what happens.

Replying To CARPS:  "Yes, it's competitive; but it's competitive mediocrity. Who is more likely to compete in Leinster? Old Leighlin or Mt Leinster Rangers (despite a three month hurling lay off)?

Would also remind you last year Bagenalstown took St Mulllins to a replay in the semi-final and this year Myshall beat them. Ballinkillen drew with MLR last year. It's not complete one-way traffic."
I think you just want to go against the grain sometimes - Carlow teams in football have actually faired well in football of recent years in Leinster - Pal winning in leinster for the first time - EO consistently winning and Leinster final - Mullins obviously sharing similar paths but MLR under performing consistently how many years since they have won a game? so based off that neither or both are likely to compete in Leinster, you are just going off opinion CARPs not facts. Look at the average scoring difference in winning margin in hurling champ compared to football this year - light and day - every single poster here could agree that the football championship has more potential winners and the teams are closer in terms of competitiveness - I am not knocking hurling simply just stating how big a gap there is and how good both mullins and mlr at the moment but to try say hurling is more competitive is wrong

Again, just a silly comment of course Wicklow and Meath dont play in the hurling club championships they dont preference hurling or play at level that would warrant it. If Kilkenny entered in a football team I am sure we would pick up a few wins also apples and oranges you are saying blah blah blah yep let the hurlers go second next year and power to them dont think anything would change though at all. Also Portlaoise and Portarlington have absolutely dominated in Laois and done extremely well in Leinster they themselves are not tier 2 - again get your facts right we can all have our opinions but be able to back them up

You insinuated the hurlers were more competitive in the club championship, so it's not apples and oranges, you were just wrong.

If hurling goes second it will be interesting to see the numbers that play. Playing hurling at the moment is attractive in good weather and no football to be played I wonder how many of the on the fence dual players would play hurling in September/October. My guess not too many.

I agree with you. Flip the championships and the football players from traditional football areas will just go play soccer or rugby come September rather than pick up their hurls. The way it is now those players are hurling during the summer as no football, no soccer, no rugby and top of the ground which makes hurling attractive. Play it in longer grass on wet bordering on muddy pitches and dark evenings and it's not so attractive.

Okay, let's see how Old Leighlin and MLR do the in the club championships and we will come back to this topic in a couple of weeks.

It's only fair to football to let it go first next year. It should alternate.
